My long-time blog (and now on Facebook) friend Eddie posted something that made me laugh this morning. He had gone to the dog park, as he does often, and mentioned seeing a guy whom he sees there frequently, and thinks of as "that old man." Today, he heard the guy tell someone his age.........and he is one year younger than my friend Eddie.
That made me laugh and laugh because it has happened to me - and more than once. I am accustomed to thinking of anyone with white or gray hair as older than I am, no matter whether they are or not. I have been heard to say while driving...."Get out of my way, old white-haired woman" many times, only to realize that they may very well be younger than I am. I further suspect that I have been the target of such invective while driving too.
We all know the jokes about going to a high-school or college reunion and thinking "Who are all these old people?" Have you done similar things?

Mostly this happens when I look in the mirror and think..."Who is that Old Woman looking at me"? LOL!
I must say I am shocked sometimes when I see someone on TV and they look pretty old to me and they turn out to be ten years younger than me! LOL! Sometimes 'genes' play a big part in all this aging stuff. My fiend Seemah is 90 and looks 65 years old. Gofigure!
Just the other day we were talking to a neighbor, while we were out on a walk. He mentioned being an "old man" and then told us he was 64 years old. We didn't have the heart to tell him that Roger is already 8 years older than that, and doesn't feel old at all. I, on the other hand, have been gray-haired since my 40s. I inherited smooth skin from my mom, so I lucked out on that!
That is too funny! It sounds just like my husband. He thinks everyone is older than him or at least looks older.
I definitely suffer from age confusion. It is staggering to look at an old person and realize they are my age or younger. My grandma used to complain about her Sunday School class because it was full of "old people" and she was their same age.
That happens to me all the time... In my mind I'm still in my 20s
