Beach Trip, Part III

On Sunday morning, we drove into Wilmington to eat brunch at The Dixie Grill. It came well recommended, and it lived up to its reputation.
A line was forming outside, so we gave our name and walked down to the waterfront to take photos. We saw the decommissioned battleship, North Carolina, across the river.
I have never visited that one, although I was on a submarine in Norfolk once upon a time. (It is behind Jeanne's head, in the middle.)

Downtown Wilmington is an interesting place. There are new buildings interspersed with lots of older ones. You can take a 30 minute horse and carriage ride
through the older sections of downtown, seeing many turn of the century homes and mansions. I'd like to do that tour someday, when time permits.

The sculpture sits near the waterfront....it is a Venus flytrap.
There is a sign indicating distances to far-away places,
and a paddle wheel boat that gives moonlight dinner cruises.

Brunch was delicious and of course, I forgot to take photos. I had eggs over easy (for a change) with bacon and the fresh fruit was Heaven in a cup, especially the pineapple. I had some every day we were in Hawaii and it was never more delicious than that I had here.

For some odd reason, I can't load any more photos to this post. BAH!!

After brunch we went back to the lovely house that had been our base of operation for two days, and prepared to leave for home. I didn't want to leave.

More coming, in a separate post.

You ladies are really doing it up right. What a fun time. Sounds to me like this should be a monthly thing rather than annual.
