The Widdle Mousy is No More.

For several days we have suspected that we had a mouse in the house; either that or a roach  half the size of my hand, based on the less than minuscule black specks I was finding in my pantry and a few drawers in the kitchen.

Two days ago, I found cork shavings from a wine bottle cork in a drawer and a few black 'spots.'  I cleaned and disinfected that drawer and two others.

This morning I saw the telltale signs in the pantry and I pulled everything off the shelves, cleaned with bleach and swept the floor, and put both roach baits and mouse traps in there. I put one sticky mouse trap on the bottom shelf and another on the floor just outside the pantry.

While watching TV tonight, I heard thumps and thuds coming from that general area and when I went to investigate, there was the furry little beast, stuck on the trap outside the pantry door. The trap inside the pantry was no longer on the shelf - but on the floor, upside down.

When he saw me, he began to fight against the sticky mess of the trap, but he was held fast and had no prayer of getting free. One whisk of the broom got the trap on the dustpan, and the mousy was in the trash  (with the bag tied securely and placed outside.)

Aren't you glad I didn't take a picture?

Your visiting cat could have taken care of that little varmint (lol)...or, maybe not. The sticky struggling part would have really really bothered me....oy!

You caught him quickly ! As much as I like mice, not in the pantry !

Glad you got him. I do prefer the snap traps that kill instantly. Glue traps make me deal with the actual murder.
"Widdle" sounds great. The ones I had in Florida were like small chihuahuas.

The sticky part bothers me too, but since I don't know how the mice are getting in, I don't want to give them poison and have them die inside my walls. I've heard the stench is horrible that way.

The absolute BEST mouser/rater I have ever had, was my old Greyhound dog Macc!!! He was quick and efficient at keeping them at bay!!!

Glad this one is gone now though...

We had mice inside a big deep drawer underneath the cooker hob. Took us ages to discover where the little menace was getting in! When we did we boarded up the back, and had no more trouble.

Just as well, our current dog is absolutely no good as a dispatcher of unwanted guests!

Bravo, Judy! I hate the thought of having a mouse in the house.

My mouse problem is a bit different. We live out in the country and one of our cats is a mighty mouser. The problem is that the cat wants to share the bounty. Each morning we have one or more dead mice left at the back door. Not what I want to deal with first thing in the morning. I can't bring myself to fuss at him because he is so proud of himself and just wants to share. Oh well.

We had the same problem around Christmas time – someone had been eating the cookies and it was not Santa! Then during the night our cat Cody dropped something on my sleeping husband – it was a live mouse. We jumped out of bed and the mouse ran away. A few days later Cody did get it though but did not kill it. My husband did not want to kill it because it was so cute – he took it into the woods to find another home.
