For several days we have suspected that we had a mouse in the house; either that or a roach half the size of my hand, based on the less than minuscule black specks I was finding in my pantry and a few drawers in the kitchen.
Two days ago, I found cork shavings from a wine bottle cork in a drawer and a few black 'spots.' I cleaned and disinfected that drawer and two others.
This morning I saw the telltale signs in the pantry and I pulled everything off the shelves, cleaned with bleach and swept the floor, and put both roach baits and mouse traps in there. I put one sticky mouse trap on the bottom shelf and another on the floor just outside the pantry.
While watching TV tonight, I heard thumps and thuds coming from that general area and when I went to investigate, there was the furry little beast, stuck on the trap outside the pantry door. The trap inside the pantry was no longer on the shelf - but on the floor, upside down.
When he saw me, he began to fight against the sticky mess of the trap, but he was held fast and had no prayer of getting free. One whisk of the broom got the trap on the dustpan, and the mousy was in the trash (with the bag tied securely and placed outside.)
Aren't you glad I didn't take a picture?
