Books I Like, Part One

"The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry"  by Rachel Joyce

Quotes:  "Harold walked the towns that were full of the sounds of other people, and the roads that traveled the land between, and he understood moments from his life as if they had only just occurred. Sometimes he believed he had become more memory than present."   (P. 161)

"Harold had the feeling he used to have with David, wishing he could be more companionable, and fearing that his insecurity might look like arrogance."  (P. 231)

"Beneath a Marble Sky"  by John Shors

Quotes:  "Does an iris," he asked, tracing such a flower on the wall, "seek to repay the sun which gave it life? No, the mere beauty of the iris is tenfold thanks enough, for each day the sun can see the wonder it created."   (P. 159)

I always think it must be a dangerous place to be, more in memory, than in the present, but maybe as we all grow older the past is more interesting than the present. Interesting quotes, thank you. :)

It amazes me the words that form in the human mind.

Harold Fry sounds like an interesting book. Often when I have gotten to know someone who appeared arrogant and superior I was surprised to find they were almost painfully shy.
Think I will check that book out.
