No Dog in the Fight

Football and I don't get along. I don't like the game and while I knew all about scoring in high school, I have forgotten more than I ever knew.  But, we were invited (more like barged our way in) to my daughter's yesterday, so we/mr. kenju could see the game on their big HD TV.

Ever the  good hostess, she and her newish husband plied us with wings, sausage balls, Palmetto cheese and crackers, pizza and best of all - Molten Lava cake - a chocolate concoction that defies description. Suffice it to say it was goooooooooood.

I had not picked a team (I never do) but geography aside, I just like the name "Ravens" better - so while I had my nose buried in my laptop and Facebook, I was quietly pulling for the Ravens to win. Mr. kenju said the black out would mean a loss of momentum and that the other team had a chance of pulling along-side, if not ahead. For a while it appeared as though he may be right. But the Ravens prevailed. We left early; while the blackout was still going on, and missed a few good commercials. Luckily, they are being shown on FB, so I can catch up. None of them appealed greatly to me, but the Clydesdale commercial tugged at my heartstrings.

Speaking of blackouts, what the heck happened?  Wouldn't you think that a place like that would have in-house generators? They should. It is unthinkable that the possibility of a blackout during the biggest game of the year could be allowed. Shame on whomever.

I'm off to the ophthalmologist this morning. My glasses are about four years old and the fine print is eluding me. I wish I was a candidate for surgery, but I would still have to wear glasses or contacts (they tell me). I know one thing; if my eyelids droop on my lashes any further, I'll be blind. Wish me luck.

Thank goodness for food and commercials for those who find football ho hum. I love the game but sympathize with those who don't for there really is little other choice. My "dogs" (Miami Dolphins) were sitting on the couch like me watching the game and with no real underdog, I was just hoping for good play.
Loved the Clydesdales but the goat for sale got me laughing.

I wasn't going to watch but I ended up doing so, sort of....Switching around a bit, here and there....I hoped the 49ers would win and it was exciting when the played catch-up, but after that---Well, for me, it was anti-climactic.
Didn't really watch the commercials...

What's Palmetto cheese?

I was pulling for the Ravens too, only based on geographical closeness. They eventually made a good game of it!

So are we to assume the Ravens won? Needless to say, I am not a sports fan. Never know if we are talking football, basketball, baseball or hockey. But any reason to gather with family is SUPER!

Judy I am not sure my first comment made it. If this is a repeat I apologize . My daughters and I made the attempt every year to be involved in the Super Bowl, in defense of he lone, suffering male in the house . Our knowledge of football is limited so we settled on rooting for the team with the cutest quarterback. We have to consider the whole package as my youngest says. Has to be unanimous. This year we were Ravens fans. Props w ere given to the 49ers for the size of his guns.

Tiff, Palmetto cheese is made in SC, and called the pimento cheese with soul. We love it!! I buy it at Costco, but HT may also have it.
