My Mother's Sister

The photographer painted in her eyebrows (for some odd reason, because I know she had her own). She must have been about 40 in this photo.
She is the woman who painted all the black toleware pieces that I have in my guest bathroom, seen here:
She didn't find her artistic side until she was in her late 40's; she started painting and rug-hooking and became so good at it she was asked to teach classes.
I have written before about her prowess in the kitchen. She was an excellent and inventive cook. Too bad we lived several hundred miles from her because that meant we couldn't sample her food often enough!
Please scroll down to the next post too.

old pictures like that are so wonderful. How odd, though, that they would paint in her eyebrows!

Hello Judy ~~ A lovely photo of your aunt who was very talented, even if a late bloomer. I loved her work when I saw it before. Thanks for your visit.
Take care, Merle.

Later in life I find many people take a turn and pursue something else.
That is one of the first thing my wife notices in a woman, if she has painted eyebrows or not.... I never think about it until she points it out.

Here from Michele's -
great adoption/birth story, I awlays love hearing stories like that. Like wandering thru a cemetary...finding out the past never interested me until I was out of school. Hope you have a good relation with her, glad its not one of those jerry springer families :)

What a beautiful and charming looking woman. One would like to meet her!

She looks like a happy woman. And I guess it wasn't much different back then....sometimes, it just takes awhile for us to find our creativity and "who" we really are inside.

Very classical features (I'm sure her own eyebrows are as well).
I love that she discovered something about herself in her late 40's. What a great role model.
And I took a look at the toleware. I loved the box with the red flowers... almost Russian looking.

Hi...
SRP reminded me to come over here and look at your 1940 Income Tax Return. It's cool.

So I've got something for you to read about on my blog.

Interesting about Flonnie Rogers.

She is beautiful. A lot of people have more talent than they ever imagined. If they love what they're doing it shows in the work.
