Michele at www.micheleagnew.com poses an interesting question today: What three actors would you prefer never to see on screen again? I am curious at some of the answers, as they list a number of actors I believe to be very good at their craft. For instance, several people mentioned Jennifer Lopez, Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. I saw three movies recently, in which all of them were very good, in my opinion. Others mentioned were: Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson and Jim Carrey. Allowing for differing taste levels and the fact that you may not like the movie's subject matter, why would you list these actors, most of whom have won Oscars or at least were nominated. Several people mentioned Rosie O'Donnell, who appeared in "Riding the Bus with My Sister" last Sunday night on Hallmark Hall of Fame and was more than fabulous in the part (again, my opinion). If you feel strongly about any of the actors above, please tell me why you do or not want to see them on film.

Speaking of movies, the ones I saw last week are: "Sideways", "Closer" and "Shall We Dance". I liked Sideways and Shall We Dance very much, while Closer ran third in the list due to what I considered dark and painful subject matter. It had some good moments, and I adore Jude Law, but he wasn't enough to "save" this movie. If you like Jude - and you have not seen "The Talented Mr. Ripley" - get thee to Blockbuster pronto!

I agree with you. I know though that there are people out their like my inlaws who HATE Julia Roberts. Personally I like her.
Anyway, thanks for visiting today via Michele, it was nice to have you and I enjoyed visiting your blog. :)
I NEVER go to movies, but I have read about some of these people. They're okay, if you like people. Personally, I don't, but that's just me.
I am a big movie buff myself and it would be hard for me to say what actors I would like to see less of. I just Shall We Dance and it was a movie that made me smile and I adored the original Japanese version. I really liked Sideways too. Closer was good but I walked away feeling that movie for a few days after!
I think for me, I don't necessarily focus on the actors if the parts they are playing are well casted for them and I like the content of the film. Perhaps we do need new people now and again to freshen the screen up!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the compliments on my photos. Pleas come again... =)
Sylvester Stallone, Barbara Streisand and Barney. But heads up! The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill is about to be released in small independent theaters (e.g.,Landmark
theaters) and my hunch is it's tremendous. Like Winged Migration but with a story. Horsetail- it's about birds!
I agree that The Talented Mr. Ripley is a must see. I think people just get turned off towards some actors for reasons they can't even verbalize.
I used to like Ms Lopez as an actress. Then she did this stupid "Jenny from the block" song and I'm afraid I just cringe every time I see her.
As for the Paltrow woman, no doubt she can act, I just don't like her. (Is it the blubbing at the Oscars? I don't know) Funny really, she always speaks very highly of me.
Paris Hilton? You really don't need elaboration, do you?
Gilbert Gottfried. I hate him ever so much.
I would be so much easier to say who I DO want to see again, but won't because they are not alive.
Cary Grant, Howard Keel and John Wayne.
Definitely Gilbert Godfried (his voice is so annoying, I would never buy Aflac), Jane Fonda, and Cameron Diaz.
Oh, I love The Talented Mr Ripley, too.
Yeah, when I saw the question at Michele's I really couldn't think of anyone specific. But I've seen a couple mentioned here that I agree with or just don't care for: Cameron Diaz, Paris Hilton. Ick.
