In a Dangerous Mood

I'm in a dangerous mood at the moment.....a shopping mood......the kind where I can easily throw caution to the winds unless I exercise self-control.

Giving some thought to it, I determined what time of year I should be wary:

The expectation of Spring and Autumn makes me want new clothing. And then there is Christmas......and the Fourth of July sales....and when we're traveling, and when it's messy weather and I have cabin fever. That covers nearly all year, right?

I think the only time I don't want to be shopping is Black Friday because the crowds deter me.

I used to be a world-class shopper  (as much as I could be without the money for it.)  I mean I could shop for hours and hours every day and not be tired physically or tired of it mentally, even if I never bought a thing.

Today?  Not so; a few hours of it exhausts me in all ways. I am finding it hard to make decisions, too, so I leave things in the store and when I decide later that I really do want them....they are gone. That worked in my favor when I was looking for a new rug, but not lately. I've been searching for a small occasional table. The perfect thing would be a garden seat 19-20" tall. The ones I have seen that I liked were brushed aluminum with cut-out designs. I let the very best one get away before Christmas, because I didn't want to spend the money for that while I was preparing for the holidays. Stupid, stupid, stupid. It was half the cost of the ones in the store now. When will I ever learn?

Do you lament shopping decisions?

*** I went to another Homegoods today and they had one close to the same one I wanted before, but in a bronze-copper finish, which actually works better than the silvery ones.  TaDa!  I'm done.

I use to enjoy shopping---mostly for new duds, but only when I was thin. Because of my Health Issues, I haven't been in any kind of store for many many years---And, at this point, I don't really miss it.
I'm so happy for you that you found what you were looking for, and really, it sounds like it is even better!

I desperately need to shop but cannot get in the mood. I found the exact furniture I wanted for my living room at the perfect price but there was no matching sofa. Love seat, two chairs and one ottoman but no sofa. My living room is small and perhaps I would not need a sofa. When the family is all here and we fill the living room and den, the boys are all over 6 ft. tall and like to stretch out. I passed on the perfect-not-so-perfect furniture. Then went clothes shopping. Nothing inspired me. Home in rags to sit on old furniture.

Sadly, these days I am doing most of my shopping on the Internet. Costs about the same with out the health benefits of the exercise. Sigh.
Clothes and shoes still need the hands on approach though.

I'm glad it worked out fo you. I am on the other side of the coin. I can't stand shopping ...never have. It probably comes from my old staid New England childhood.
(does save me lots of money though !)

I'm not much of a shopper, except for really nice second hand stores. Shopping malls are too big, too crowded, too noisy AND they never have what I want. I am so glad you found what you were looking for.

I hate shopping - do most of mine on-line now. I find it so tiring, dawdling along, looking in windows, stopping, starting. No good for someone who can't walk without a stick! Used to love it when I was a teenager - except then there wasn't the variety and choice we have today.

Shopping -especially clothes - used to be a joy and darling Al used to hold my bags whilst I tried stuff on and say the right things. It no fun any more.
But I try to keep up to scratch in case he's looking down on me.
