A Pinched Nerve?

Last Friday morning, I woke up after a good sleep and had a slight pain in my neck. It felt as though I had slept in a kink, as we say.  Hoping it would go away soon, I continued on my day. But the pain didn't go away, and over the course of the weekend, it traveled down into my shoulder and my arm. It is waves of intense pain that go into my hand.  Tylenol, the only thing I am supposed to take for pain doesn't touch it. I am lucky that I have some codeine left over from my broken collarbone in March, and taking one of them at night helps me get to sleep. Otherwise, sleep would not be possible with the pain.

I went to my chiropractor, whom I had not seen since March 2015. As I explained the pain, he felt my neck and twisted it a bit (which made it hurt more) and said I can't touch you without x-rays, to see what is going on. So today I am getting x-rays of the upper back and neck area. It could well be a pinched nerve.

I have had 3 babies, 5 surgeries (inc. open heart) , 5 car wrecks and 3 broken bones - and the pain of this is so much more intense than anything else I have experienced. It is hard for me to type this now.

Please pray for me, if you are the praying kind, and if not - send me some good thoughts. I really need them.

Pinched nerves are so painful. I hope the x-rays pinpoint the problem, and that it can be dealt with easily and quickly. Take care, Judy. Sending good thoughts your way.

Thanks, everyone. I had had two adjustments and I am somewhat better. I know it is a long process, and I will continue for a while. If I don't think that the progress is swift enough, I will see an orthopedist.

I hope it is just a pinched nerve, even though they can be very painful. Just after my knee replacement 2 weeks ago I pinched a nerve in my hip – not fun, but it does go away with time.

I've been checking in for days now, waiting to hear some good news from you. Hope the day has finally come when you see and feel some improvement!

I know this has cut into your busy social life! ;-)

There is no other pain like nerve pain. It is the hardest to treat as well. I hope they find a resolve the problem very soon. My daughter is dealing with a similar issue and seeing a therapist twice a week. Unfortunately it takes time to get this sort of thing under control. Lots of adjustments (literally).
