A Wonderful Weekend with My Daughter, Part 1

A few months ago, my younger daughter told me that she had bought tickets for us to see
Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett in concert, in Washington, D. C. I could hardly wait!

We left on Thursday evening and arrived in Bethesda, Md., just before midnight. The bed at the Marriott surely felt good after a long day of travel. Daughter had to work on Friday, so I enjoyed eggs Benedict on my own. A quiet morning, spent on the computer, reading and showering, and then I was ready to pack, and change hotels; since we needed to be closer to DC before the concert. We checked into the hotel, in Arlington,  and left again, driving into D.C.
A friend had told me about a celebrity portrait exhibition and I wanted to see it; at the National Portrait Gallery. No photos were allowed in that exhibit, but in other parts of the gallery, they were. I didn't get info on them, however.

We also visited the National Gallery, which is in a different building. I had been there before, but it had been a while. The last exhibit we saw there was King Tut's Treasures, many moons ago.

My daughter is the best tour guide and chauffeur in D.C. that you can have! She knows all the shortcuts and good parking places, since she lived there for over 15 years. She was able to get close parking places for me, and take short cuts when the traffic was bad.

We went back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and the concert. Dinner was at Ray's the Steaks, in Clarendon.
Daughter had been there before; so she treated me to a great dinner of blackened scallops with garlic and mashed potatoes. I also had several bites of her steak, and it was excellent!

Looking forward to "the rest of the story". Did your daughter do this for you because she is jealous of all the attention Moppet is getting? LOL
