I Awoke at 4:00 A.M.....

to discover I had lost my left arm......or so it seemed.

During the night (while asleep), I had placed my hand and arm under the back of my neck and head and kept it there too long, resulting in a very deep "sleep" for my whole arm. I had to pull it out of position with my other hand, and shake it around to wake it up. It's a very weird thing to lose the ability to move a limb, isn't it?

It felt and looked like a dead fish from Fulton Market, and it took a while to get the feeling back in it. I didn't care for that at all......and I'd like to know how to prevent that in the future.

The only other time I know of that happening to me was when my last baby was born. She came out before the anesthesia took hold, so I was left in the recovery room, strapped to a gurney so I wouldn't fall off. I was, by that time, numb from the hips down. What an awful feeling. I was convinced that one leg was falling off the table - although that would have been impossible - and I called the nurses to "fix my leg." They must have though I was nuts....lol.

Sadly that happens to me every night. I sleep in a fetal position and my arms are always tucked under me or a pillow or stuck in the headboard of the bed.

Wow that does sound scary. I've never experienced it before but I think maybe that's because I move around a lot when I sleep. :D

I've had that happen a few times. It is really weird.

I have had that happen to me in the past---but not for a very very long time.
Somehow, somewhere along the way, I began sleeping on my back and barely moving through my sleep. Since that time, it's never happened again. I'm in the same position through my sleep and my arms are down by my side...I have no idea how or why I began to sleep this way, but it works well for me, and no 'dead' limbs, Thank God! When that happens, is a very weird and rather scary feeling!

I hope you are feeling better, dear Judy.....

I know the feeling! One morning I swung my legs over the bed and when I stood up they just buckled beneath me like they weren't even there. I had to sit on the floor for a few minutes before I realized I could still move them.
