The Maelstrom...

Most of the time, my bed clothes are neat and nearly undisturbed in the morning; making it look as though no one had slept there.  But lately, I awake with a bed so messy it appears that the gods of thunder, lightning and wind have had their way with it. During the night I wake with covers over my head or strangling my neck; my feet dangling over the end, uncovered and freezing - unless I wear socks to bed. The comforter is either half off the bed, or wadded up into a ball, and I don't know why.

I have not remembered having any dreams or nightmares lately, otherwise that might provide a clue as to why my sleep habits are so changed. I suppose stress could cause it - and God knows I have enough of that in my life.

It used to be that my bed looked like the sea in the doldrums in the morning. Making it was easy and quick. Now I have to remake it nearly every day. Do you sleep like a whirlwind - or is your bed a peaceful retreat?

P.S.  That is not my bed in the photo, but I love that room!

You have seen the movie THE WAR OF THE ROSES with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner? Well their house is what our bed looks like in the morning.

When I was going through menopause, I would get too hot and throw the covers back, then I would get cold and pull them back up. And by morning, the bed looked as frazzled as I felt. Fortunately, things have settled down in recent years.

What an absolutely perfect bedroom picture! My comfy bed is ok the first morning and although I make it gets progressively worse until time to changes the sheets. I used to leave it as though no one had been it. I guess I squirm around more than I used to do.

Are you exhausted by day? I'm curious if a bed like a war-zone interferes with restorative sleep.

Mostly a Peaceful Retreat...Though, my bed itself is like a "desk"....There is so much stuff on ii---I do spend a lot of time on my bed...But, I sleep on one position ALL the time---no thrashing about...!

I wonder what is causing your very restless sleep, Judy?

I sleep very neatly! But last night I woke myself up yelling "Wait" at a bus! But still neatly tucked in (I don't like duvets!)

Most of the time, my blankets are calm. A few nights it looks like I wrestled an aligator.

Think I might spring for a sleep study since it is new. It must be tiring and you are not getting good rest.
I am a tidy sleeper. I can slip out and the bed is 90% made.

I have taken to not putting the top sheet on the bed and just sleeping with the duvet / down comforter above me, and it ends up neater in the morning.

I don't sleep well or much, but I don't make much of a mess when I do.
