DO Your Taxes!

Have you started your 2012 taxes yet? I like to get a head start by collecting data and making lists, finding checks and receipts, etc. I'm still cleaning out files and boxes of photos and memorabiilia, and this 1940 tax return popped up. When I cleaned out my parents home after my dad died, I found this, along with a receipt for something he bought in 1940 that cost $1. I can't understand why he found it necessary to keep that receipt until he died, in 1995. The tax return is a bit of a mystery too, since he didn't have many others in his files. Perhaps this one is special because it was the year I was born. I'd like to think that was the reason he and mom kept it.

What's new with you?

Our tax forms, while different, are just as formidable! Mr.G has been struggling with his as they have to be in by end of January.

Luckily I don't earn enough to pay tax, so am off the radar!!

Anything to do with forms and paper work I leave to my partner, I'm just not wired this way.

Started the gathering. Not much to report and I let the AARP volunteers finish it off for me.

I'm like Joey in this respect - taxes and insurances are a foreign country to me.
Otherwise I'm just free wheeling through January - as one does:)

Judy, is that your father's handwriting? Is it anything like yours? I have a photocopy of a 1911 census form that my paternal grandfather filled in and signed. it was a few months before my father was born. The handwriting is exactly the same as my father's and he was eleven when his dad died.

Love the old tax return, looks like things were a but more simple (sigh).

I have to get into the taxes and I dread it. We are self employed so I have to pay taxes 4 times a year. just mailed off the Jan payment.

Not much going on here, we have had really cold weather. got 1/2 inch of snow last night. I hurt my back and am in therapy. I was going 3 times a week but I have graduated and only have to go 2 times starting this week. I'm doing the happy dance without kicking my heels up, lol

take care

Since we have to file in three countries this year, I am very happy Ernst and Young will be doing my taxes for me. Whew!
