We had our annual planning meeting for my neighborhood women's group last night, and about ten of us gathered to discuss ideas of events for the coming year, to eat plates of goooooood food and generally enjoy each other's company.
I usually have a glass of two of wine, but after our last get-together, when I had two glasses of pinot grigio, I decided to stay wine-free. Last time, I had a very hard time sleeping and the next day, I had one of the worst headaches ever.
So, last night, I had one can of beer with my meal. After the meeting, I came home around 10pm, and got very tired, very quickly. I spent an hour on the computer and went to bed at 11pm, forgetting to plug in my phone so it could charge overnight. I have never done that before - so it proves how tired/forgetful I was.
I woke up at 7:30 am, after, 8 1/2 hours of sleep. After breakfast and catch-up time on Facebook, I settled into my recliner for some reading. The next thing I knew, it was 1:45 pm and I had slept another four hours. What the heck is going on??? That has happened before when I was sick, but I am fine now (or so it seems) and I can't believe I have slept 12 1/2 hours since 11pm last night.
Are you sleeping your life away? Or do you have the opposite problem?

Given my way, I'd probably go to bed around 4 a.m. and sleep straight through until 4 p.m. Annoying stuff keeps messing that awesome schedule up; work, kids, you know.
I'm not such a good sleeper and occasionally do exactly what you describe. Maybe you just need to catch up, Judy.
I have a bad sleep pattern. I sleep very little at night, and then of course feel like dozing off to sleep in the day, normally in front of the computer!
If there is a lot going on - and there has been lately - I can go from 7am to midnight with no daytime nap, but then I make up for it when things quieten down.
I have the opposite problem---I have to catch sleep when I can....And I haven't had 8 hours of sleep at night for many many years....I'm lucky if I get 4 and it's broken up, at that!
Your body must need the rest Judy....And I think it is great that you are getting it....!
I do nap, now and again, but it's only for an hour or less....It's just the way it is, now.
It seems to be either one way or the other with no happy medium. You are probably still recouping from working the Valentines rush and being sick.
Some days, I can barely keep my eyes open. Other days, I wake up all bright and squirrely. I can't figure it out, since I go to bed and wake up at roughly the same times every day. Weird...
I'm in bed by 11 and sleep very well for about six hours and then either wake up at 5 & stay up or potter around for half an hour and go back and sleep until 8. Some mornings I can't stay up. This is new this year for me, I used to sleep like the dead for 9 hours from 10pm to 7am every night. If I sleep more now I am either sick or really tired.
It sounds like you've been busy lately and your body might just be catching up.
I don't sleep well in particular and wish I could sleep in on the weekends, but I'm still up at 6 usually.
I agree with Star. You worked awful hours before and now your body is saying, R E S T.
I agree with the rest of the commenters. It happens. If it goes on too long and especially if you get sleepy while driving - see a doctor.
I have gotten into an annoying habit recently, waking up around 3 am..trying to go back to sleep..giving up. turning on the light and either reading or playing with Iphone.
What happened to that person, me, who could sleep all night until late in the morning?
Heard some Dr. program talking about how our sleep pattern changes with aging. I don't sleep through the night as I once did. Also, have varying lengths of sleep on any given day. Doesn't help that I'm a night owl up to midnight or so.
I am experiencing the exact same thing. What used to be a brief ten minute nap in the afternoon to invigorate me has turned into at least an hour or more. Last year was so busy for us with all our travel and doctor's appointments and I believe my body is catching up. You certainly had a busy year yourself with your chimney repairs added to and definitely busy group of holiday seasons in your job. Maybe we'll catch up soon and get back to our normal selves. I hate too much sleep because I fear missing something and life's too short.
Definitely the opposite for me and I can't remember when I've had a full 8 hours sleep. I guess it's best to enjoy it and hope it's not a harbinger of sickness, like you say.
