My Good Deeds

One of my employers (Mel Day) has a birthday tomorrow, so I baked a pineapple/mango/papaya upside-down cake and delivered 2/3 of it to him today.  Yes, that's right - 2/3 of it.  Just as I as taking it out of the oven, mr. kenju came into the kitchen and literally begged for a slice. He takes it very personally if I bake for someone else and he doesn't get any. Sometimes I make two so that we can have some, but since neither of us is supposed to have sweets, that's not a great idea. Neither of us can resist if sweets are around! Luckily Mel knows mr. kenju well, so he said he doesn't mind sharing his cake! Hope your day is good, Mel!

After delivering the cake, I went to the pharmacy and the grocery store - both of which I have shopped in on each of the last three days. It seems I can't stay out of either place these days. I wonder if there could be a connection?   lol

Between Mel's shop and the pharmacy, I encountered all sorts of car drivers. Most of them irritated the heck out of me because they were either tail-gaiting or cutting in front of me. People don't seem to want to go my usual speed (which is 5-6 miles over the speed limit.) As Raleigh makes every list on the best places to live in the U.S., and has for the last 10 years, we get more and more people moving here in search of jobs and the good life - and our roads can't handle the traffic. Added to that are all the cranes and construction jobs going on in downtown Raleigh, and traffic is made even worse, for months at a time.  Most of us are proud to live in an area that is so well thought of - but it has its downsides! Maybe it's time for us to move further away from town....

I cannot picture you getting too far from town. You know you're a city girl.

I love that Mel understands Mr. Kenju so well...And HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL....!

It is really kind of awful when the place you live is so wonderful and because of that, more and more people move there, changing the whole feel of the place and the ease of it, too....Traffic--The Nightmare Of Los Angeles!! And it was not always the case---But, like your town, it sure is now!

Trouble is, people move to a place because its a good place to live, and then bring their bad city habits with them (bad driving, inconsiderate this that and the other) not realising that is precisely the GOOD habit of the people there that make it a good place to live.

some people never learn.

So pleased Mel understands Mr. Kenju! I rather think Mr.G would react in exactly the same way. Men can be so peculiar! ;)

Mmm... cake... I don't blame Mr. Kenju one bit for wanting a slice!

The traffic in Toronto is horrendous. Rush "hours" take up most of the day. My husband is a fast driver and tailgates slower drivers, but I don't criticize him because if he quit I don't think I'd be able to find another volunteer chauffeur.

I know how you feel about the driving, it is the same here and the town keeps growing (sigh)

Happy B-day to Mel! My hubby is the same way, glad Mel is understanding :)

take care

How nice that you have an official taster to prove the gift you are offering is not only wonderful, but safe to eat.
You need a sticker to put on the pan that says. "This has been Mr. Kenju approved."
Happy Birthday Mel.

Sorry about the malware issue. Google did say that it could be a third party implant. YOu may want to check your html code in the older (newer) blog. So sorry for this headache.
