HELP!

This is the worst day of my life.....or.....blogger/google better listen up!

Yesterday, I joined the ranks of "new bloggers", as I mentioned in the "old switcheroo". I said I wasn't going to change the template, but I very foolishly did. If you are computer illiterate, you had better not change your template without expert help standing by.

I saved the old template, as I had been told I could always go back to it if I wanted. I WANT, damnit, I WANT - and they will not accept my saved version of the old template, no matter how nicely I beg. Not only have I lost my statcounter, my newish blogroll and all the little gimmicks I had in the sidebar, but they refuse to reinstate them.

Today, blogger/google has decided (yet again) not to recognize me, except on special occasions - and I can't lock down when those are. It seems they have decided that they will recognize me by my gmail address and new password only once in a while. I had to try it 7-8 times before I got here this time, and now I can't remember how I did it, so I suspect that the next time I try to get into the dashboard, I will have the same trouble again. POOH!

I have read and clicked on every "fix" they mention in their help menus; nothing works. There is no email address (that I can find) to allow you to communicate directly with someone at Blogger/Google. Incidentally, don't you think they should change the name to Bloogle? I do.

I have tried to log on with the old blogger name and password, and I have tried it with the new google name and password (which has been changed) and they still will only allow access to the dashboard occasionally. I know I have the correct address and password, because they DO work part of the time.

One of the supposed perks of the "new blogger" was the quick edit button on the top bar. Well, my buttons don't work - no matter how many times I click them.

Here's what I hope will happen: 1. That Blogger will decide to use its own search feature and look for instances of the use of the name blogger or google, and discover my plea - or 2. One of you will know how to email them directly and will share the address with me.

I noticed that the URL for starting the whole process is now different. I get weirdness when I try to log in from the old page. But from the new one, it seems to be somewhat smoother.

If you haven't done so already, triy to update your starting bookmark to this:

http://www2.blogger.com/home

If you get really gummed, e-mail me and I'll try to dig deeper.

One more thing: You've got to log in with your Google Mail account. You have one, right? (If not, I can send you an invite.)

It took me a little while before I realized my old Blogger-specific username was no longer welcome.

I love Bloogle, what a great name. I never had many problems, maybe because I switched very early because I heard photo loading was so much faster. (it is) No matter how I try though I have trouble getting it to remember me and it's like a triple login everytime I try to leave a comment.

They should change their name to "Bloody Annoying" if you ask me, Judy. Good luck!

You could go to this forum and look for some answers:
Blogger Forum

Or this place looked like it had some tips:
Blogger Status For Real

Or even this site:
BetaBlogger For Dummies.

I plan on reading these extensively before even attempting to change.

Oh, Lord! You sure DO have a nightmare there! I'm afraid I can't help you at all....except feel bad for you, because I know what it's LIKE to be lost in cyberspace and with NO help! Don't ya just love how there's NObody with Blogspot to contact for some assistance?
ON the good side.....I really, really, like your new template and "look" of your page, Judy. If the font size was a tad larger, it would be perfect....then again, it's probably my eyes....lol
I'm sure sorry for all your frustration and aggravation. Hang in there!

The only real issue I have had is commenting when I go to comment on some bloggers who have not switched and I don't spot it straight away if I write my comment and then try to post if I havent saved the post and try to log on using new blogger details I lose the comment ;(

Other than that if you would like help rebuilding your blog I would love to help admittedly mine isnt anything to look at but I do emply to web designers I am sure I can ply them with PG tips to help out ;)

Maybe I should get them working on my blog lol

I have nothing helpful to offer- except that it is so CALM over here. This template is pleasing enough to the eye, Judy. If you get stuck with it, we will all still come and watch as you dress the place up. (Have I mentioned that I HATE typepad and I've been thinking of migrating to Word Press, except I'm sure something like this will happen?) Oh- and I love your little icon cartoon thingy.

Judy I wish I could help. Early on I had everything sieze up and had pages of gobbleydegook. No-one seemed to know what to do but somehow it disappeared and righted itself and now I will do anything before i'll change anything. I think in the end I managed to delete and republish. I wish I could do more. You can always try pressing refresh.

I'm sorry it got all messed up, but the color is really nice...soothing actually. I do miss your side tags though...everytime I try to look up something on help...it is out of commission or out to lunch or closed for the day. Did you ever see the movie Bad Day At Blackrock? I did. I have to put in the word scramble twice to post my messages to you

(((hugs)))
that's about all I can do...sorry!!

If your old template is saved, you should be able to copy and paste the whole code over the new template - it will bring you back to the original.

If you prefer the new template, just copy the "bits" from the old template that contained the sidebar/etc. items that you want. Unless Blogger has made some major improvements since last I used it, all personal data will be lost when switching templates - they expect you to save the code that you changed from the last template and re-insert it.

Oh boy.
I'm afraid changing to the new one will do damage to my template.
I may be returning to this post's comments in the near future.
But not until I'm forced to change!
