The Distant Past

I am on the right in the top photo, probably about 3 at the time. I have no idea who the other child is, but I think she lived in my aunt's neighborhood. My curly hair persisted until I was about 9.

In the ocean on a rock - I wonder how they got back to shore without getting drenched? I think this is my mother's sister. Isn't that an interesting place to be when you are all dressed up, with hats even?

In this one, my mom and my aunt are with two men I don't know. That must have been pre-Daddy. I don't recognize the location either.
This is my dad's brother and his father. I posted the father as a young newlywed several days ago. This was probably in the late 30's.

There seem to be two pictures missing... I was trying so hard to find you there on that rock! :)

Great pictures!
Maybe they wait and wait hours until the tide goes out. (this may be a duplicate, I'm not sure the first one took)

judy- i've been enjoying these photos that you have been posting. i went through a lot of my parents old photos when i was home for the holidays, ones that they had from my grandparents. a lot of them weren't labeled and no one knows who they are, which is kind of sad. it's great to feel that connection to your roots though, that having these old photos maintains.

I love the photos! And the look on your face like you are telling that little girl she needs to put some shoes on her feet. :)
Have a great weekend!

That photo of you and the other little girl could be on a greeting card depicting friendship....that is SO cute!
And those dark curls of yours...talk about fetching.

Judy, Sam has those ringlet curls and he is 7...I hope he doesn't lose them...what a waste! You are so cute!

I love your old pictures. I get lost in them no matter whose they are. I study the clothes and hairstyles, the furniture in a room, the cars on the street, you name it and I could linger for hours over anybody's old pictures. One of my Dad's Aunts had a wonderful collection which is now mine. She had the foresight to write on the back of each where it was taken, who is in the picture and when. The best notes also include her little comments about the circumstances. If only everyone would do that what a rich history we could weave.

Keep posting. Your blog is the best.

Oh I just love love love old pictures. I think I like them better, someimes, than current photographs. These are great. You look adorable, Judy....

BTW: Yes, the "stars" pay for their stars on the Walk....or someone does. Isn't that amazing? It is now $1,500. a piece....! So all the hoopla is really a lot of hype, I'm sorry to say.
Years and years ago they said they wanted to honor Carroll O'Connor and when he found out HE had to pay (at that time) $3,000. he refused the Honor! But many years later...he decided to get his story when offered again. At the time it was about $10,000 to $12,000...I don't remember exactly.

I love the old pictures! I need to get some from my dad and scan them. The one at the beach reminds me of one of my parents in the early 50s. My mom is all dressed up at the beach, but my dad was a lifeguard, and he is just in his bathing suit. Great contrast!

Here from Micheles,
What great pictures! I especially like the one of the people on the rock in the ocean, I used to go to a beach in MA that had a similar rock which was out in the water during high tide.

I know both sets of my grandparents had a number of photoalbums but I've not seen them in 30+ years. Seeing these pictures of yours, Judy, makes me wonder where those albums ever ended up.

I love old pictures, and yours are adorable. Isn't that amazing how time flies? I scanned some old pictures of my husband's relatives for my in-laws 50th anniversary, and we had so much fun doing that, going over the family past.

As others have mentioned, I realy enjoy studying old photos. The people are interesting, but sometimes the background objects tell even more of the story.

Enjoyed the pics!
