White Christmas

Here is another piece of sheet music; one I didn't show you when I was posting a lot of it before. The ever-popular "White Christmas", from the movie "Holiday Inn", copyright 1942. Written by Irving Berlin (both words and music) it is the most enduring popular Christmas song of the century.

"The sun is shining, the grass is green,
the orange and plam trees sway.
There's never been such a day, in Beverly Hills, L.A.
But it's December the 24th,
and I am longing to be up north......

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know.....
Where the treetops glisten and
children listen to hear sleigh bells in the snow.
I'm dreaming of a White Christmas, with every Christmas card I write.....
May your days be merry and bright.....and may all your Christmases be white."

this was one of my mom's favorite Christmas songs, which I never could understand 'cause she didn't like snow and besides, it never snowed down east.

We see very little snow...but one can still dream!

I remember singing that in school when I was a kid and finding it hard to imagine a Christmas that wasn't white--or even an October or November. Of the two types, I'll take green though it would be nice to have snow just for those two days. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Then it should just all go away. *poof*

Michele sent me by, Judy.

A great song! I used to have tons of music sheet like this and gave it all away before moving.

White Christmas is one of my favorites, and we sang it down here in Florida when we were kids! ;)

You really have an impressive collection of memorables, Judy!

Oh, about your comment on Buddy, he still has diabetes and needs insulin shots twice a day, but the 117 reading he had is the result of getting him back to norm again. Just thought I'd clarify, LOL :)

I think dreaming of a white Christmas is about as close as we'll get around here, don't you? Boo.
