Would you Drive Here?

A friend sent me these pics in email. It is a road in Bolivia, cut through the side of a mountain. Is this a good place for a Sunday afternoon drive in the country? What do you think?

Um...is the road pretty wide? (gulp) It's beautiful but I don't know if I would want to go on it if the road was narrow.

um... Bolivia?
The idea doesn't do anything for me at this time. lol
Very interesting photos. A feat of engineering.

Honestly? It (sort of)reminds me of where I lived in West Virginia.

There were places where you just KNEW you had to turn - or you would go off the edge of the mountain. Especially in fog.

I will admit that it was beautiful to look at - but terrifying to drive on!

I received that e-mail as well. When I lived in Haiti, I went on a trip, and we literally leaned to the right to keep the vehicle upright...or at least it seemed so. The road was right on the edge of the mountain, and there were no guardrails. I didn't do a lot of traveling while I was there.

Not on a bet! wow! I'd like to be a passenger in a car driven by someone I trusted who was experienced in the area though!

Got the email, thought it was a joke? I would love to drive that road ONCE and would be petrified while doing it, but hey ya gotta live a bit dangerously now and again.

That is so EXCELLENT! I have to agree with the WV person above - I live on top of one of the Blue Ridge Mountains and our roads are close to this....

I'm not Anonymous - I'm here from Michele's - Chrissie @ http://chrisseas-corner.tripod.com
I'm on dialup and it takes too long to switch from Anonymous to Other.

Long Answer.....NO!

Great road. I think it could be fun to cycle along. I've been on some similar roads in Norway (in fog), Switzerland (in snow and dark) and roads that were probably wider (but so was the car) in Arizona.

And today I travelled here via Michele's - Hiya!

The simple thought of driving that road scares me. The actual act of doing it would terrify me. In fact, the top photo of the pedestrians made me gasp and want to say - move over, don't walk so close to the edge.

Would it scare you Judy? Do you think this road scares those who live near it?

I lived in the grand city of Elkins, over in Randolph County.

Most roads in and out of the city were a lot like the roads in these photos.

Judy, I was going to do a post on the Death Road! I watched the Discovery Channel thing mentioned above. Is that not the craziest road ever!

No, I wouldn't drive there, but I would look at it in pictures.

Having both driven on & been a passenger on a few "ridges" here in WV, I'd have to say no! Although it is a great way to strengthen the buttox muscles ;D

Looks a bit nerve-wracking.
