Rome Leftovers

My collection of receipts and ticket stubs from Rome attractions and restaurants.

These are shots of ceilings in the Vatican Museum. Now you know that the Sistine Chapel is not the only painted ceiling in Rome (in fact they are legion). Almost every building I entered had paintings or frescoes on the ceilings.

This is a pic taken from the train between Rome and Florence. I took many photos from the train and since the outside of the train windows were dirty, most of them have spots or streaks.

The area we traveled through north of Rome on our way to Florence was lush and green, full of small villages and scenic hillsides replete with grape vines, olive trees and orchards. It was a serene and restful treat for the eyes after the opulence and ornament of Rome.

Next we stop in Florence (Firenze), home of Michaelangelo's David and other treasures. Come back soon for another installment of Planes, Trains, Etc. Posted by Picasa

In June these fields are full of sunflowers and it is so strange to watch their large heads move with the sun as it crosses the sky. We took the train as well between Florence and Rome.

Great fun to keep the tickets and so forth, for that extra jog to memory and realism!

Here today via Michele's!

The thing I've noticed most in your wonderful Italy pictures is the overwhelming abundance of it all. It wonder if people ever grow jaded when they live surrounded by such beauty?

I love the way blogs are like virtual scrapbooks! A nice way to organize stuff!

I'm going to start hanging stuff on my ceiling now. Even if you're not in Rome, do as the Romans do!

Florence was our favorite Italian city. Better than Venice, even. Such memories you're bringing back!

Hope you can use those little scraps of paper for a future scrapbook of your trip. They make great additions to any memory book.

What wonderful photos! I'm planning a trip next year, and I've decided to start practising art journaling so I can make use of things like those ticket stubs in an interesting way. If I practise for a year, my travel journal should look pretty good (I hope)
Michele sent me - at least she may have - that time stamp mixup as me totally confused!

Those Ceiling Paintings are FANTASTIC! I don't believe I've ever seen such a detailed photo of any of these types of ceilings other than at The Vatican...BEAUTIFUL Judy!!!!

The tickets remind me of my daffy friend Jane. We were on a bus in Rome and Jane was in the midst of one of her long stories when she turned to an immaculately dressed army officer - he even had a sword and said' Two to the Via Veneto please'!

St Ignatius, or Sant'Ignazio, is in Rome...just a few steps away from the Pantheon. Off via del Seminario...on the Piazza S. Ignazio...it's stuck in a little nook and you'll miss it if you're not careful. It doesn't have a dome but the painted ceiling gives the illusion it does.

We'll have to compare Florence notes. I'd actually love to hear about where you stayed in Florence.
