The Renaissance lobby flowers. Tall flax with branches, berried ilex, red amaryllis, white lilies and green hydrangeas, surrounded by a fluff of red mesh fabric. The entire arrangement was about 7' tall.

Looking toward the Louvre, and the obelisk. Claude will have to tell us about the obelisk, as I have forgotten already. (Shame on me!)

The Louvre and I.M. Pei's glass pyramid. The Louve began as a palace in the 1190's and became a museum in 1793. Later I will show you some of what we saw there.

Looking down the Seine toward the Ile de la Cite, where Paris began in medieval times.

Beautiful pictures.
You made me laugh though. (I needed to laugh a bit) Only you would know all the flowers in a 7ft tall flower arrangement in the lobby of a high priced hotel....:) You certainly did have a fabulous trip and my that Orient Express would be a grand trip too.

Beautiful pics and nice descriptions :) I can understand why you forgot some things you were told (like the obelisk), too much information in a short period of time!!

The orient Express looks like the only way to travel. How could you tske a subway after seeing that anyway?

Looks like you're having a great time. A couple of my friends took their parents on the Orient Express for their wedding anniversary...their stories of the trip were fabulous!

Lovely photos but it only creates more Paris withdrawal for me.....4 months from tomorrow and I'll be back in my beloved Paris. Thanks for sharing these.

Was the Orient Express still running?! Everytime I see the word "louvre" I am sad because I was in Paris breifly in my 20s and did not go in! It must have cost money and I was broke.

So many imposing and stately buildings here !
