Here I am again, making fun of a perfectly good word.

The statue is Burgermeister Hans Waldmann. I don't know why he merited a statue, but I guess he was instrumental in Zurich's history.

The twin towers of Grossmunster Church, which was endowed by Charlemagne.

The guidebook says that there are more than 30 museums in Zurich, but we didn't see any of them, being there only overnight and six hours on Sunday. I could have spent days there. If you go to Switzerland, plan to buy chocolate. The two best known brands are Sprungli and Lindt. The latter is now available all over the US, but as far as I know, Sprungli is not. I saw in the latest Town and Country Magazine that in a poll of over 200 movers and shakers all over the world, Sprungli chocolates came in first place. I bought seven boxes of it to give to friends, but would you believe I didn't eat even one piece? That's true, I didn't, and now I am sorry! Oh, and by the way, take lots of Swiss Francs if you plan to buy it - cause it ain't cheap!

The cynic in me would say that the burgermeister erected the statue to himself. Love the little boy gargoyle. Michele sent me

That cow must be related to the ones I saw in Bratislava!

Loved all the beautiful photos and would love to see Switzerland sometime. That cow up there on the veranda is just too funny! He is way too big! :)

Wonderful pictures of that Lovely Lovely city....I have some of the rivers, too...And I agree with Judy...Rivers "make" a city in a Big Way!

Chocolate....YES! I bought quite a lot of it when I was there, too....And you reminded me that it was pretty costly....But sooooo Yummy! I ate some alright! (LOL)

Hi, Thanks for visiting my blog. It seems like you had a lovely time on your travels. I love to see new places and I am going to New York next week for the first time. I can't wait to go and am starting to feel fidgety with waiting!

Your pics are lovely and you're right - Swiss chocolate is the best adn Sprungli is the best of the best though not widely available in the UK either. Lindt is though :0)

Lucky for you there wasn't a heatwave what with the chocolate and all!
You look snugly dressed - it can be very cold at this time of year. I really do marvel at how much you do in a short time. I think it maybe because you live in such an enormous continent that distances are no problem.

while driving the autobah, we thought Ausfart was a really big city with a lot of exits, like Philadelphia on the Pa. Turnpike. When we told our daughter who was living in Germany she sai there was a touristy T shuirt, that said all exits lead to asfart!

The city is even prettier than I imagined.

B & I laughed at the sign. He says it means "exit" (basically) for a car. :) But it made us laugh.

Judy,

When we took our (then teenage) daughters to Germany, they giggled and laughed for days every time they saw "Ausfahrt." I guess most Americans have a similar reaction.

Oh, and thanks in advance for my box of those best chocolates in the world. It hasn't arrived yet, but Saturday was a postal holiday and I'm sure it'll be here soon!

John :)
