The shelf in the top photo has a Masonic Emblem carved into it. My dad was a Mason, so it interested me. The two carvings are my favorites. The mandolin player is so joyous looking and the other guy wields an umbrella, but looks cheerful too. The round silver thing in the middle is my collapsible cup, from summer camp the first year I went, which was 1946, I think.

On the top of the next photo (though you cannot see all of them) is a ceramic frog pitcher, an old tea tin, and two more carvings. The barrel one with legs actually has a man's head on top of it. The top lifts off and I kept toothpicks in it for a while. Inside that shelf are some of the spice tins (and other kinds) that my mom had. I would swear that Sudan mustard seed tin is from the 20's!

In the third photo, the wooden box is actually a drawer from an old Singer Sewing Machine. It makes a good display shelf.
The small oval mirror was sold as a Christmas tree ornament several years ago. The other oval is a very old image of Jesus that belonged to my grandmother. The shelf on the right holds a carving that could be part of my husband's pipe paraphernalia collection as well, since he is lighting a pipe.

Oh, I wish we hadn't just had a garage sale!! We got rid of - I am sure - some things that would have done well in the company of these lovely items! My husband's mom is a huge antique puff and so my husband had ended up with all kinds of treasures way before we ever got married. Now they have all found new homes.... as we're not moving it all to NZ!

As for printing the text from my blog - I'd be honored. =) Thank you for your kind words.

I too have my Mum's bits and pieces and treasure them whether they are to my taste or not. Guess what my new great nephew is called - FELIX.

How neat! I love those old objects. I used to hang old tin cookie cutters, kitchen tools, trivets on my wall. I don't have much of a kitchen now to display things. You make very good use of your space. Well done arrangement!

I LOVE your kitchen wall! I especially like the "queer" saying. I've always felt that way myself.

There is no end to your pack-rattery Judy, some lovely bits-n-bobs though.

Wow, what a fun and interesting collection! I got into collecting old tins when my home was more 'country' decorated. Those types of things make a kitchen feel so warm and cozy and inviting! The carved figures are awesome!
Makes me miss my grandparents....:)

I find the idea of some Jiggs guy spreading his legs on your wall disturbing, Judy. I'll try to get over it....

My mother would love your house. She has an antique fixation, and one corner of her living room is decorated with similar items. I'd wager the two of you could swap stories for hours.

As I recall from a recent post of yours, Judy, Mr Kenju doesn't like momentos around of your past "interests". I'm sure a frisky Jiggs would qualify for that catagory. Be careful!

I used McCormick spices when I was a bride. I don't know when they stopped making them.

I love the top shelf and the figures.
