Back when Designing Women was on hiatus, and CBS was planning to cancel it, I wrote a letter asking them to reconsider. I guess a lot of other people did too, because CBS brought it back from the dead, so to speak. In thanks, they sent this letter, and at Christmas, I received this postcard from the cast. It is too bad that the letters were not signed personally, but appear to be copies.

Ah-the age of sitcoms. Seems so long ago now, doesn't it?

You know, I always tell people to write letters. I believe it truly makes a difference and I've seen that come true, now I can add you to the success list :)

Bernice was my favorite character. And I always wished I could tell someone off half as well as Julia could.

I love stuff like this...Somewhere I have a letter that Eleanor Roosevelt wrote to my mother thanking her for a letter that she had written....That is an Original Signiture---like James Hamptons...(What ever happened to him? I met him around 1976 at someone's home...He seemed to have a nice career going for him and then he just dissappeared...I'll have to look him up!
Like you Judy, I have a very hard time throwing things out that are old like that envelope that was your mothers from the 1930's....it has such history somehow, you know?

YOU did that? YOU'RE the one that got Designing Women back on the air? That was YOU???? How could you? I worked for months to get that show on hiatus...

These are some nice memories to have around. I love the old photo envelope. I don't watch television so I don't know about the women but I am glad you supported them. Have a wonderful day!

I absolutely loved this show. The writing was great, the actresses strong and defined in their portrayals, and there were always laughs and thought-provoking issues. And Bernice (Alice Ghostly) was a hoot! I miss this show.

Oh! I'm so glad you wrote about Designing Women, this was one of my favorite shows ever! They were able to make us laugh at their antics, their southern ways... I just loved 'em.

Are the re-runs on the air where you live? The show is on infrequently here, much to my chagrin. Maybe I should write a letter too! LOL

I absolutely loved this show and watched it as often as I could - especially in reruns on Lifetime when I could see it every day. I wasn't such a fan of the replacement cast, though. There was just some kind of chemistry between the cast in the picture that they couldn't match.
Michele sent me - Have a great weekend!

I remember my friend involved in a letter writing campaign for My So Called Life in the 90's - it's cool when a show touches so many people like that. Michele says hi.
