Saturday's Wedding

Two of the nicest people got married yesterday, and they were so cute. Both are from Ireland, and I could have listened to them talk for hours and never gotten tired of hearing it.They are in America for graduate school; one at Duke and one at Carolina.

The wedding was small, and the guest list included lots of people from Ireland, who made the trip over here strictly for the wedding. I wish I could have stayed at the reception and heard them all talk!

The bride requested daisies in the attendant's bouquets, so I used them in the centerpieces as well, along with hydrangea, calla lilies, roses, freesia and dendrobium orchids.

Someone asked me recently if I had a lot of "bridezilla" stories to tell. Every florist has a few, but in my 25 years in the business, I can count horror stories on fewer than the fingers of one hand. I have been extremely lucky. Most of my brides have been delightful to work with, and when it comes time for me to retire, that is the aspect I will miss the most, after the flowers.

Looks lovely and sounds like a delightful way to spend the afternoon.

Thanks for sharing a peek at it. Michele sent me over this morning.

Everything looks so fresh and pretty, especially the bridal table! I wish we lived closer so that you could do the flowers for our daughter when she gets married in a good ten years. (If I have my way LOL.)

I do remember the florist who worked with us during our wedding because she was so incredibly patient. I guess some girls know exactly what type of flower they want for their wedding, but I didn't have a clue at the time. She made the most beautiful bouquet of orchids, so gorgeous that I really hated to throw it in the air for the bridesmaid's toss. I wish I had gone with a silk bouquet for myself!!!

In any event, I am sure your brides will remember you fondly as well. :)

Lovely! I often wonder about those "Bride-zilla" stories. How can anyone be so miserable on the happiest day of her life??

You are the florist my sister should have had for her wedding !

By the time the white roses she ordered were delivered to the hotel, they were all brownish and sad looking ; he tried to convince us that it was the new "it" thing... Yep, not a bridzilla story but a florizilla one !

Michele sent me. Have a great weekend !

A mixed marriage in Carolina?

There should be a joke about the two Irish coeds, one at Carolina and the other at the school tobacco built.

here from Michele's today Kenju

About fingernails... I do have very strong fingernails. Mine never break. Even when I used to have them long, I probably only broke three nails ever. People either have strong nails or they don't, BUT I can give you something to try.
Revlon Colorstay polish. I use the clear top coat called Sealing Shine, and it is the best I've tried. If you keep yours without polish, you may still want to keep this top coat on them. Maybe it will help give them some strength. It is a strong top coat and will be durable in water.
Just a friendly blogger tip!
