Odds and Ends ~ 2

Addition below!
When are the beer bottlers and canners going to wise up and start putting their cans in "fridge dispenser packs" like the soda pop people do? I just unloaded a 12 pack of Natural Light into the door shelf of my fridge and I thought how much easier it would be if it were in the dispenser pack like the Peach Fresca I bought this week!

If you haven't seen "Mrs. Henderson Presents", treat yourself to a rental. I have loved Judi Dench for years and her performance here doesn't disappoint. Bob Hoskins plays the male lead; he has lost so much weight since "Roger Rabbit" that I hardly recognized him. For history buffs, there is imbedded footage from WW2; scenes of bombings and air raids. It was an entertaining movie.

Tonight we watched "Capote" and I highly recommend it. Philip Seymour Hoffman was so much like Truman Capote as to be scary. If only his face was shorter and wider, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference from PSH to the real Capote. I remember seeing Truman Capote on TV back in the 50's and 60's, on Johnny Carson mostly. He was very entertaining and funny. His demeanor changed a little after he became involved with the killers in Kansas; he was more somber and serious. If you have read the book "In Cold Blood", you would definitely enjoy the movie.

I have not yet seen the movie, but I will rent it. It has been on my "to do" list much to long.

I agree with you on the dispenser carton. It would make it so much easier.

I'm catching up on your blog...loved the one about Monica and have to agree with that one.
Those flowers for the wedding were gorgeous...could almost smell their fragrance.
I bought Mrs. Henderson Presents about a month ago at Walmart...other bloggers were saying how good it was...so now I really look forward to watching it next week, after I return back home.

I love to watch As Time Goes By on PBS each week with Judi Dench. She was also in a British comedy with her husband that escapes my memory right now, but it too aired on PBS for a long time. He died several years ago now.

Loved the flowers, it looked like a wonderful warm wedding.

Finally back from the trip, actually got back yesterday but after driving for 30 hours out of 72, I was a bit dead.

I saw Capote in March and like it. I'll have to see Mrs. Henderson Presents. Thanks for the tip.

Maybe the corporate bean counters figure the guys drink it too fast to bother with the logical box :)

I'll check out the movie too :)

I also loved Mrs. Henderson Presents, but haven't seen Capote. I plan to. I watched Junebug tonight which I thought was deeply touching, and almost too human. Loved it. Last week I watched The Squid and the Whale--another great, but sad movie.

I passed on 21st Century Zen tonight and gave you credit.

I'd love to see both those movies but we are in the embarassing position of having been given a DVD player by one of our sons - the minute he left it stopped working. We should get an engineer but you know how feckless older people can be!

I've not seen Capote yet but it's definitely on my list. Everything I've heard about it has been highly complementary.

As for the beer containers for the fridge, they're common here in southern Calif. stores, so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the handy fridge boxes reach your area!
