My sister always says, no situation is completely negative if you can at least get a good story (or blog post) out of it. THINK POSITIVE!! :-)
It is better to laugh in the hard times than cry... crying doesn't fix anything and makes your eyes swell, turn raddish red and stops up your nose. I'm not sure about surviving poverty on humor, but it couldn't hurt.
I'm finding this truth on a daily basis lately.
Truer than most people will ever know. I know, though.
