Yesterday I tried to load the software for the new printer-scanner-copier and for some reason, it got hung up. The instructions said it would take about 20 minutes, so I was surprised when it just limped along at an alarmingly slow rate. I know very little about computers and I was at a loss for what to do, so I just let it alone and went about my business, checking it every now and then. I was amazingly patient with it - stupidly so as it turned out.
I had started the software at about 2pm, by 10:30 pm it still had not finished. I went to bed. At 1:30 I woke up and decided to see what was happening. Nothing. I got so frustrated that I removed the software CD and almost threw it across the room! I checked the programs list, and none of the software had actually downloaded. The suggestion in the troubleshooting section of the booklet said to restart the computer and try again. So, at 2:00 a.m., I started the process all over again, rather skeptical of the outcome. To my surprise, it started and proceeded as it should have the first time, and within 20 minutes, I was printing and scanning like a pro.
There may be none of you as dumb as I was about that process, but perhaps my experience can be a lesson to you if you are as clueless as I. Don't wait 12 hours!

I totally relate. I'm learnng a new digital camera. I think it's not mistake that the rise in technology coresponds with the rise in anti-depressants!
Oh my gosh that would be sooo frustrating. I know because i spent an hour trying to get my router working tonight that had gone all crazy like. Grr sometimes i just hate technology.
Here from Michele's
You know, I feel your pain too. Everytime I have glitches, I gasp and stay up half the night until I CONQUER or DESTROY :)
We can't live without them (computers), and we can't shoot them...just like our sweet husbands:)
I'm so glad to know I"m not computer geek?? I'm that!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
Good for you for loading your scanner software, and being determined enough when you don't succeed, try try again.
I do what you did, turn off and turn back back on, it seems to solve my computer problem 95% of the time.
I admire your patience. I would never wait 12 hours for anything. I frankly think I would even take my husband off life support if he was quiet for more than 4.
Well, at least your patience is admirable.
Kenju,
Now, you KNOW better than to show your frustration! That just encourages the Conspir... Oops, I mean the "C."
Glad it eventually worked. Mine is the PSC 1350, so they're not identical but similar. Watch out!

Judy, you obviously have the patience of Job. I don't.
I am one of those "follow the directions" people that would wait and wait and wonder why it wasn't working, so I completely understand your frustration.
Glad it is working now and thanks for the lesson.
I can assure all of you that I am usually not a patient person, and I was uncharacteristically patient with this process. Thing is, I know so little about doing that kind of thing, that I am always afraid I will really mess stuff up, so I try tobe careful.
I am so computer challenged that I can't mock your experience at all. I have tried to learn some on my own, and I have, but luckily, I live with three computer savvy people who can help me in a pinch.
*grin*
Everything I know about computers, I learned the hard way, it seems.
Welcome to the club.
No matter how minor the chore, I always call in an expert. I do not have the patience, or the geekness, to try it on my own. You, on the other hand, apparently have lots of patience!!
Cool, looking forward to see what you decide to post, now that you've got the all-in-one up and running. Look out world! :)
have fun ;)
Oh, Judy. Welcome to my world! Can't wait to see what's comin' now that you're hooked up and ready to go!

I have a love/hate relationship with all things technology. When something goofs up, I get in obsession mode and can't leave it alone until it is right. In the process, I go nuts. Thank you for stopping by today, and I didn't get here by Googling Kukla, Fran and Ollie! ;)
Don't you just love it when computers make you feel like a fool??? I am sure I have done something similar!!!
Stopping by this evening via Michele to say Hello!
Hi judy
oh, how true this is! this has happened to me in the past, although these days i tend to be too impatient and ring someone to shout and ask for help!
ps. was going to leave a comment on your earlier post, about the oldies radio station but there was a problem with the word verification.
here from michele's today!
Back in November I had something similar happen with some software I was downloading---I don't remember what it was now...but, like you, it was hours and hours...Tried again, and the same thing...it was very soon after that, that my Hard Drive CRASHED!!! And so bad that the Computer Wizard couldn't get onto it, at all! I sure hope that doesn't happen to you Judy...
Soooo glad you've got a scanner again..I know you are, too!
It seems like re booting solves a multitude of problems.
Congrats on your new printer/scanner/copier.

Hi Judy ~~ So glad you triumphed in the end. I am amazed that switching something off and then on again seems to
work most times. Last week it happened
with my phone. I unplugged it and it came good. I hope you have a great weekend, mine has been good but is hlaf over. Take care, Merle.
It is so frustrating when things like that happen! MAkes me want to scream and throw things ... usually the software! Here via Michele today.
Two words for you: Apple Macintosh.
I can't believe how difficult it is to do ANYTHING on a PC. I have an Intel Mac now so I can boot into Windows, but any time I do that I cannot wait to get back to the Mac side.
