Someone Said.....

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby. That Somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "Normal," is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct.
That Somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring .... That Somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good."
That Somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices . That Somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother. That Somebody never helped a fourth grader with her math.

Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as you love the first. That Somebody doesn't have five children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books ........ That Somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery .. That Somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten. or on a plane headed for military "boot camp."

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back . That Somebody never organized four giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married ... That Somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home ..... That Somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her . That Somebody isn't a mother.

*LOL* I've read this once before in an email years ago. After the day I've had today, it made me laugher hard than I did the first time I read it.

I'm glad Michele sent me this way today. Have a great weekend. ~A~

The teenager with a learners permit: Oh, my do I relate to this one. Nyssa driving down the road as far right as she can get, afraid of any oncoming car while I am hanging on to the door handle wondering how she is going to miss the bank of oncoming mailboxes. Good thing I color my hair, I know that added quite a few gray ones.

A good mother doesn't have to be tense, doesn't have to have gray hair. (I made this one up.) Get over it... you may be dark headed when they arrive, but by the time they make it to college the gray will be dominant. So, get a box of L'Oreal and remember moms... we're worth it!

Judy, that's beautiful! Where did you get that? Or did you write it? I need to forward it to my mom...

Beautiful.

One has already flown the coop and living on her own after college in Portland.

One has one leg and half of one foot out the door as he completes the last half of his senior year at Notre Dame and waits for law school admission responses.

And one is just now taking Driver's Education classes and turns 16 in March.

And it feels like it happened overnight.

I'm emailing this to my mom...

Judy ~~ Good post. That somebody had a lot to say. I have printed
it for my daughter Kathy. She has 5 children.
I do hope your nephew and his wife enjoy Australia, as I am
sure that they will. Maybe you can
make it another time. Have a nice
weekend.

This tugged at my heart strings and brought back memories. Perhaps it is my age, but "Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her. That Somebody isn't a mother." sure hit home this morning. I sure could use an "I love you" from one of my kids right now.

Over the years, I've discovered that somebody doesn't know their behind from a hole in the ground. THEY are not a reliable source of information.

Having my body back to myself and not having to share it would be 'normal' for me. I am sooooooo tired of sharing. I know 1 week after the birth I will feel sooooo good!!!! That is the day I am looking forward to.

Oh, how sweet... and how timely. Parenting is very much on my mind this week.

Who is this "Somebody" person? And how do I find this person so I can read him/her/it a piece of my mind.

Somebody is clearly disconnected from reality.

Thanks for sharing this lovely post. I smiled all the way through. So true.
