What the Heck?

First my template shifted so that the archives, etc. are at the very bottom right of the site, and now my sitemeter has disappeared! Last night before I went to bed, I checked the number - and sometime during the night the whole thing disappeared. I have not made any changes to the template - so what gives?? Can anyone offer an explanation?

As Rosanne Rosannadanna would say.....Nevermind! The sitemeter came back on it's own sometime between noon and 3pm today, and I figured out what was causing the archives, etc. to show up at the bottom of the page. It was Hoss's fault! When I put up his birthday post, the link to his site was so long that it displaced my bio, etc. So, Hoss, I am sorry to say I removed your link. I don't think it matters, though, because nearly everyone knows how to find you!

Everything looks fine from this side.

I'm using Opera here for a browser and like you said, everything is at the bottom. I do see your sitemeter--but it's at the bottom also.

Cause? I can't say exactly but it's something to do with the way the CSS is being implemented. Since your site loaded fine yesterday and I haven't updated my brower version lately I'd say something in your template must have changed, Judy.

Sometimes the size of pictures ina post will throw a sidebar to the bottom. I've had it happen to me a time or two.

During World War II there were these trouble-makers called gremlins. Then the Gremlin car came along, and it was beset with gremlins. Then Microsoft came along, same thing. Then came Blogger and Sitemeter and Haloscan and Gravatar, gremlins abound. (P.S. I don't have a clue.)

Blogger-specific templates sometimes have difficulty rendering in certain browsers. For example, my sidebar "slid" to the bottom for a while in Internet Explorer. But Firefox and Safari had no trouble with it.

So the solution was for everyone to either switch to Firefox or buy a Mac!

All looks well from this end, though I HAVE had the occasional Sitemeter-related anomaly. It usually clears itself up within an hour or two. For the price, it's an amazing service.

Judy, the only time I've noticed my sidebar crawling to the bottom is if I try to embed photos that are a) too large, or b) too far to the right in my post.
Usually, if I make them smaller or shift them over to the left, this remedies itself.
The site meter sometimes does disappear. So have my links (which I HATE). Sometimes, clearing the cache and hitting refresh a dozen times fixes that too.
