Miss Moppet is a Pain. Literally.

I don't know what we're going to do with this cat! She has become a pain to deal with  Last night I was sitting in my chair; she jumped up on my lap, bit the crap out of my arm and sped off as if I were going to chase her. She brought blood.

At 2:30 am, she jumped on my bed, bit my wrist and sped away as she had before. My arm looks like I was chasing bunnies through a blackberry patch!

My vet suggested that I pop her on the nose when she bites me, and I do. The result of that is that she bites me even harder. Believe me, a pop on the nose is no deterrent to her! She draws back and attacks even harder.

Every time my husband gets up to walk into another room, she manages to get between his feet (no matter how far away she is when he gets up) and seemingly attempts to trip him. He walks with  cane and his balance is lacking. If she is not between his feet, she is lying across the area where he needs to walk, and he cannot move in that direction. We are afraid that he will fall and break a hip.

To combat this, the vet said to give her a poke with the cane; a more than gentle poke, so that she understands she must move. Jim can't do that without losing his balance, so I must get up and come to his rescue. Needless to say - I am getting tired of it.

She has nearly shredded parts of my leather recliner, and I blame myself for that. I should have taught her as a young kitten not to do that. I tried, but she seemed not to be getting the idea - even when I sprayed her with one of the three mist bottles I kept nearby.

We love her, but we find ourselves losing patience with her and with each other because of her. Whenever we have company, Jim insists that I put her in the bedroom for the duration, even if the person(s) say they love cats. She seems to be able to choose the very one who does not like her, and proceed to walk all other them and the furniture they are seated on. She is lovable and sweet most of the time, but a devil all too often.  We thought that when she got to be one year old, she would calm down, but she has not.  I don't know what to do.

Is she spade yet? Our kitty calmed down a lot post-op.

Judy you have given her every chance but this is putting both of you at risk,
She needs to be rehoused. You need to make the decision. Hopefully the vet will know of places more suited to her fairly wild behaviour. I hope this can get sorted soon before she does worse damage. Good luck.

Oh Judy......that is a difficult problem. I had a friend who had a cat that bit her all the time and she never was able to cure him of this.....It's a tough situation with your dear hubby's problems, too----it would be terrible if he fell......I wish I had a solution, my dear, but I don't....

Sorry I have not been around very much and I am shocked by how long it's been since I posted, myself......Life is overwhelming sometimes, and I guess this is one of those times.......I appreciated your very dear email, more than I can say. Hugs to you and your sweet husband and a little tiny slap for Moppit!!! Bad Bad Bad.....tell her forme to stop that biting!

Wow, sounds like she's demon possessed!

Try putting some vinegar in your spray bottles and use the stream function not spray. Our kitty Drake used to do the same things....she eventually stopped with the vinegar squirts and time out in the bathroom.

Judy,

Maybe you can get Jackson from the TV show "My Cat From Hell" on Animal Planet to come to your house. He is like a cat whisperer. He would make short work of Moppit...

I'm so sorry to hear this about Moppett. Jim's safety and your well-being are more important than the cat. I hope you will know the right thing to do.

Just as I was going to suggest spray bottles I read that you have three. Oh dear. Maybe you need to hit her with a strong water-gun shot instead of mist.
