Betcha didn't know I knew Charlie chaplin and Clark Gable!
These pics were taken in LA back in the late 80's or early 90's. I was there for The Special Event convention, staying at the Hotel Westin Bonaventure.
We were taken on a tour of Universal Studios, and that is where I "met" Charlie. He was uncannily like the real thing.
"Clark" came to one of our gala events, and made the rounds, taking photos with all the women (and few of the men)
. When we boarded a chartered bus at the hotel, on our way to one of theoff-premise events, Marilyn Monroe was on our bus, and she entertained us during the trip by singing songs from "Some Like it Hot".
There were many celebrity look-alikes hired for this convention, but these are all I can remember now. I think that is a very good job to have, if you look like someone famous.

That stroller is marvelous...I love old photos. :)
I shall be fascinated by those playbills behind the young man for hours, I think. The one on the right must be for a movie, as I see the telltale beginning of "A Paramount Picture"...but what could it be for? All we can see is "Com____ Ce____" clearly...and that there were a lot of men in the picture. I see a Theo(dore?) and a Richard and a Rob and a Charles...Perhaps it's a period piece, too, judging by the carriages the people are driving.
On the left...the (something) Exposition and 4-H Fair. Kanatha? Hanatha? Hmm. Where could it be...
I love your series of older photos, Kenju. You were a cute kid and a real babe with Charlie and Clarke. And that's good advice for people leaving blogs--say goodbye. When you said Arethusa was gone for good I was afraid you meant dead. I've had a few friends who close a blog and open another one judiciously because of the cuckoos who sometimes comment.
Again...I LOVE these pictures...You look adorable in your stroller and your cousin P is a beautiful girl....That boy in those knickers---that looks like the 30's doesn't it?
And Charlie & Clark and you....DELIGHTFUL, my dear!

Oh, Judy, I love the picture of you in the stroller. I don't think I had one. I have my rocking chair from when I was a little girl, about the only thing.
We could have played together if we had lived closer together.
Once again I have really enjoyed seeing your photos. It really is a fascinating way to look back at years gone by.
The celebrity look-a-loke thing sounds like it was fun.
The top picture with the car is really good; a fine picture of a lost time.

Well I am determined to figure out that playbill to the left of the unknown boy. I think it may say...
"Coming Soon
Cecil B. DeMille's....."
and of course on the bottom I am sure it says...
"a Paramount Studios production" or something along those lines.
Obviously there are horses involved since you can see some on the playbill. Was there a date written on the back of the photo by any chance?
I briefly thought it might be "For Whom The Bells Toll" which was a 1943 production but don't really think so. There are some pieces of names there but none of them seem to be big name stars.
Oh well....who doesn't like a good challange.

It could be "Cleopatra"
Those may be horses and chariots in the upper left-hand corner of the playbill.
That movie came out in 1934 starring Claudette Colbert as Cleopatra.
Uncanny. And what a lot of fun.
Coincidentally, it was during the 80's that B & I first went to Universal Studios as well. I remember seeing Ricky & Lucy and James Dean,and of course, Laurel & Hardy. :) Fun post!
