Without books the development of civilization would have been impossible. They are the engines of change, windows on the world, "Lighthouses" as the poet said "erected in the sea of time." They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind, books are humanity in print.
Arthur Schopenhauer , philosopher (1788-1860)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hunting is not a sport. In a sport, both sides should know they're in the game.
Paul Rodriguez
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>He who would be a leader must be a bridge.

Nice proverbs Judy...
Michele sent me today..I didn't realize this was still going...Maybe a lot of people don't realize it! (lol)
Ooh, like the hunting one. That's the best definition to exclude hunting and fishing that I've heard.

The hunting definition makes us think Judy.
I don't see the sport in hunting either. If you had to hunt for food, that would be different. Of course we are all guilty of doing things we want to do rather than what we have to do at times.
I heard once that hunting would be a sport only if the game could shoot back.
Great quotes...long time no see, btw. :)

Great sayings. I love books and I couldn't agree more about them being the embodiment of human achievement adn change. Without knowing where we have been it is difficult to chart a path to the future.
Well said and I'll ad: Blogging connect people and are bridging the gap too!
Btw: Hello, Michele sent me and I'll ad Happy New Year all the way from Norway:-)
Good thing we hunt for food, not for sport. If we used hunting as a sport, we'd have to take along a basketball. :P
Quote me as saying I was misquoted.
~Groucho Marx
Always a pleasure to see what quotes you have come across. Thanks Judy!
I love books and lighthouses both. How wonderful to see a connection between the two.
Great quotes!!
This is my personal favorite I use to get me through most days (esp at work):
"We are as happy as we chose to be"
I'm not sure, but I think it's attributed to Abraham Lincoln...
The only things I hunt for are socks & loose change and occaisionally my dignity.
