Saturday Six

1. My computer has a mind of its own! My favorites list, which includes all the blogs I visit daily, has decided to alphabetize itself. I don't mind that at all; in fact, I prefer it, but I'm thrown for a loop when I see that the computer has made changes to itself without asking me if I care. Seems I never know what the page will look like when I log on....LOL.

2. I have been meaning to start a blogroll; Naomi at Here in the Hills gave me detailed instructions back in February, but I got the flu soon after and the list went onto the back burner. Since then, wedding season has come into full swing, and there has not been enough uninterrupted time to try and figure it all out.

3. My new van is still great! The Sirius radio still perks along everyday. I wish I knew how much longer there was on the subscription. I surely will miss it terribly when it expires. One channel plays strictly blues and old-fashioned rhythm and blues, on which I grew up. I love it!

4. My boss and I have three weddings this weekend. All of them start at about the same time, which makes delivery and set-up tricky, to say the least. I will have to deliver at least one of them by myself, and it makes me proud that he trusts me to do that on my own. Of course, I have been doing and delivering wedding flowers for 24 years in my business, Tickle Your Fancy, so I have plenty of experience.

5. Nothing tastes better than an icy cold beer on a hot night when you are tired. I have had some of those frosty mugs - you know the kind you freeze upside down - for several years and one by one they are all going bad. I should have replaced them little by little, but I haven't, and now I can't find them anywhere. I wonder why they were found nearly everywhere until this year?

6. Some people in my neighborhood have become concerned about some of the yards; people are not always as diligent as they once were in picking up fallen limbs and branches. They have mounted a campaign to get people to clean up their yards and put the debris out by the street, and they will hire someone to pick up the trash and haul it to the dump. We are fortunate to live in an area with many trees, but with that perk comes branches down and fallen leaves. In a neighborhood of 71-2 houses, maybe 40 of them have at least started their trash collections, and the rest have done nothing. I suppose you cannot force people to clean up their yards, but when it is a group effort, one would think that people would have all the incentive they need to comply.

  1. Your computer may be the beginings of skynet. Does the Old Old Lady From the Hills know Linda Hamilton.

I love Syrius too, although I just got it so that I could listen to Howard Stern.

  3. We for the past several years we have been watching our neighborhood in a downward spiral. When we first moved here 30 years ago every yard looked fantastic. Then, there was "yard of the Month" sign in someone's yard at all time. Now, the subdivison is sprinkled with rentals, which it seems yard pride do not go hand and hand with

  4. It maybe that you or someone right clicked on your favorites and accidentally highlighted the "Sort by name", that alphabetizes them.

I'm sure the wedding flowers are going to be gorgeous, if you did them.

  5. The sirius is definitely worth it, Judy...and only 13 bucks a month! I tried logging on here last night from work and the site was blocked like it was PORN or something...I'm going to take a look around and see if there is something I missed...LOL!! I'm here from Michele's today!

  6. Ha! No porn here, Robin, but if you google Tickle Your Fancy (the name of my flower business) you will find some almost porn sites.

OOooh, did you ever read the book "Demon Seed" by Dean Koontz? (or see the movie~in the 70's, I think it was)
This lady had a totally computerized house, and it was a 'learning' computer. It ended up having a mind of its own and emotions...
    creepy.
Maybe you need a new computer.;)

  9. I get used to seeing things a certain way and if the computer changes the format or order I get thrown off balance...yes, especially if I didn't ask it too.

It seems all I'm getting in the mail is wedding, graduation, and shower invitations!

Remember Hal, the computer in the movie 2001?

  10. I sympathise with any technical problems you have. My present problem is links. I can do it from blogger dashboard but not from Word. Aaaaayyyy!
It always seem strange that you say yard and we say garden. Our yards are bare back places with hard floors usually a 'back yard' often with an outside loo (john?) sometimes the only one in the house.

  11. I'm borderline technology challenged, so any unwarranted changes from my computer has me rushing for therapy. Tell yours to behave!

  12. You sure you don't want to do funerals? Seems to me there are about 30 people in your neighborhood who need one.

  13. Judy - treat yourself to a Sirius subscription if you really love it.

I would do something like that if I didn't have my iPod.

  14. Judy I am computer challenged also and that is why I don't have a links list on my site. I have tried and can't seem to get it right. :(

  15. Get the Sirius subscription you know you want it. Have you tried brewing your own beer. My first batch is bottled and I will be able to drink it starting next week.

  16. I have been meaning to start a blogroll, too, but I can't understand till now how it's work! Lol!

Wishing a good luck with the weddings!

  17. I'd be happy to help you start a blog roll. It's actually pretty easy, and if you choose to use Blogrolling, you can have it alphabetical with new posts on blogs starred or marked new. it's pretty cool.

I can also help you put up a scroll bar on your blogroll, like the one I have on mine, way down on the bottom right sidebar. I love tinkering with blogs.

Have fun at the weddings. Three... that's a lotta flower!

  21. Hi Kenju.
So glad the family postponed the off the grid trip.
Re your computer...sounds like the movie 2001 with HAL. "Sorry, Dave..."
Really enjoyed this post. Hope your ungrateful neighbors clean up their act!

  22. Hi Judy...Thanks for the mention, but I wouldn't bave been able to give you detailed anything with the wonderful CRAZIEQUEEN...Without her, I wouldn't have had any blogroll thingy, either...so, if and when you get around to doing this..Please do give her all the credit...and btw, once you get it under your belt.....it realy is pretty easy...
I lov these six things...so glad your boss trusts you--he should with ALL the years of experience that you have...he is lucky to have you!

  23. Oh, I wish I had a frosty mug right about now!! And I'm jealous of your Sirius radio. I really do need to get me one. ;)

  24. Posting a blogroll is not terribly difficult. I was able to do it, and I am NOT very computer savvy. When you get some extra time, you will get to it.

  25. Hi Judy ~~ Computers You can't live with them and you can't live without
them. They have minds of their own.
Some time ago my bottom tool or task bar
decided to move to the lefthand side of the screen. Now Start is on top left corner, time bottom left corner and the other icons in between. I have got used to where they are but it is not where I wanted them. Cheers, Merle.
