Blogger, Please Don't Fix What Isn't Broken

Blogger is very frustrating to me now. It used to be very easy for me to change my template, the layout and colors and such, and it was even easy to add gadgets and items in my sidebar, like I had on my previous blog.....Imagine.

But recently, they completely changed the way the dashboard looks and I have a hard time finding things on it, especially the place you go to make changes.  I really wish they would give us the option to use the old dashboard pages.

In previous times, the face of the blogs had a bar across the top which showed such things as  "next blog" and had an option to click when you want to make changes. That has disappeared from my blog since the new format appeared  (without my wanting it!) Is that bar available as an option?  I wish I knew, and I have no idea how to find out.

Are you listening, Blogger???

I have no problems correcting or changing my blogs. I have been neglecting them lately, my bad. It seems there have been some bad glitches in Blogger. Other times I mess up. If I can help in anyway, feel free to email at lindacrim@gmail.com

No, Blogger isn't listening. That's why there is no way to contact them, or Google, for that matter. Grrrrr.

See the little box for the Post List? Don't click on it. Click the down arrow right next to it. That'll give you a menu of things such as"Settings", "Layout", etc.

Hope this helps. I don't like this Dashboard, either.

I just hate the "NEW" UN-Improved Blogger....So I am with you Judy....I still do not understand how they can view this NEW Blogger as an Improvement....It Sucks, Bigtime, as far as I'm concerned, and I so wish they would let us use the Old Blogger, too!

I still have that bar on mine, even after the changes. I have to admit I find the new layout so much better and easier to use than the old one.

The only negative I have is I can't manage the blogs I follow and there are some I would like to stop following and I can't. But that was an issue before the changes anyway.

I still have that bar at the top with the new blogger. One thing that I found was that the new blogger wasn't so compatible with my Internet Explorer, so I downloaded Google Chrome (go figure - they force you to get another Google option) and it works fine now with that.

I hate the new format. I've experienced all kinds of layout problems and in order to remedy them a bit, I've had to change certain features of look of the blog which I am not happy about.

I'd love to switch but I'm afraid that I'll lose everything if I try to transfer to another blog program.

I use Chrome too, all the time. Betty, I clicked the down arrow and found template and layout, but when I try to insert a gadget (the link to my flower photos), it tells me that there are "illegal" characters in the URL. How can they be illegal if they are exactly what I used to place that gadget on my other (older) blog???

Thanks, Miss Dazey.

I don't like the dashboard either,It behaves peculiarly. I too would be glad to quit following some blogs, some are no longer in use as the person died.

Hi Judy!!

If you need a hand, I can help, I find it easy to use... Although, I didn't like it at first, much the same as FB and its timeline, yet now that I am using it, I now like it...

I think it is because we become 'use' to something, we 'try' to resist change...

I think you need to ask, or tell us, where the photos are hosted (Flick is where mine are, and they have a simply cross-post tool), and is it more of an issue with blogger and your photo host not 'talking'? Maybe they had an agreement which has recently expired, and that this may be the cause?

Happy to assist if you need it...

Bernie, the photos are on Picasa.
Thanks for the offer to help, and if you know what I can do, please tell me.

As far as I can tell, Blogger has always been a pain in the butt. There for a while, I refused to visit blogs that were hosted by Blogger it was so unfriendly to commenters. It is more friendly to the commenter, now; but, you are not alone in being an unsatisfied user of the service.
Cop Car
P.S. IF (and I don't know whether it is or not) Blogger is still free of charge, I guess one can't whine too much - lol.

I don't have much trouble with it but my blog is very simple...I don't do the bells and whistles, just the pictures and the prose.
You would think that Blogger would be more concerned with all the complaints about it.

THANKS, Peruby. I will check them out later, but usually, that stuff is just so much Greek to me. A techie, I am not.

Don't get overwhelmed by the whole article or paragraph. Read it one sentence at a time. It is a slow process. Take your time. Be kind to yourself and do not beat yourself up.

Read a sentence. If you don't understand the sentence, post it here. We can help.

Some of the changes have seem to be for the better--pictures are easier than ever to work with EXCEPT when you turn a photo 90 degrees and blogger wants to turn it back and you ends up looking like your standing on a wall and defying gravity

It is strange but sometimes when I cannot find the answer on blogger I go to google and ask a question on hot to perform a certain task and will get the answer there easier than trying to explore all the "design" page options.

I'm not a fan of the new blogger template either. I find it cumbersome and non-intuitive.
