May the Odds Ever Be in Your Favor!!

I just got home from seeing The Hunger Games  and loved almost every minute of it. There is some violence, but they do not dwell upon it for long and there is plenty of compassion shown to counteract it.

Having read all three books, I was not ready for the movie to end when it did - even though it is 2 hours and 30 minutes long and I had been sitting there for 30 minutes before it started. I hope that the powers that be decide to film the other two books; I will be in line to see them as soon as possible!

Even though the books were for young adults, I read them with relish and couldn't wait to find out what happened in the story. I hope you will enjoy them too.

Edit:  don't let  it phase you that the books and movie are for young adults. It only means there is no profanity and no sex.

The cast has been signed for *4* movies...I'm thinking they have some pretty big plans for books 2 and 3...

Never read the books and I'll have to wait to see the film for maybe 6 months when the DVD will be available. This kind of story is not my cup of tea, really...But,I would like to see it anyway....It sure is cleaning up at the Box Office this Opening Weekend---Record amounts, from what I hear...!

This is completely new to me. Must do some research - in a spare moment:)

JK Rowling got our children reading again with the Harry Potter stories. All of our grandchildren read and love the TWILIGHT series and now THE HUNGER GAMES trilogy. It thrills my heart to have my grandkids say to me, "You must read this (or that) book!" with such excitement. Regrettably I went to this movie with two of my grandchildren last week and had not read the book first. I know I would have enjoyed it so much more to read the book and will do so.

Until I started hearing about how many turned up to see this movie over the weekend, I'd not heard of the movie or the books. Thanks for letting me know that the books are "young adult", in neither of which category I fit.

I am thrilled about any author who can get kids actually reading. Guess now I will have to check it out. Probably read one of the books first. Thanks.

No sex or violence - what a nice change - some movies are difficult to bear.
