The First Post of 2012

So far, 2012 is not treating me very well. I've been sick for 6 days; coughing, snorting, dripping and now - wheezing. Someone told me today that the bug I have is going around and some people are having it turn serious, if they don't take care early on. Hmmmmm. I worked 2 days while I was sick, but I'm taking it easy now - so I hope that is going to work to keep it from becoming a problem for my doctor.

It doesn't help a bit that old man winter has finally shown up around here. Temps are in the low 30's today and the overnight low is predicted to be in the teens. I went out to get the mail a while ago and remembered to disconnect the hoses and let the faucets drip. The last thing we need is frozen pipes. Doing that, plus rolling out the garbage and recycling bins tired me out, so I took a short nap, or tried. I got hooked on a program about surveillance in the 21st century, and then another one on J. Edgar Hoover (a powerful, but very repellent man.)

Somehow our den television cable has gotten stuck on 70 (Nat Geo). I love that channel, but I don't want to watch it 24/7. I suppose I  will have to go to the cable office and get a new remote. Adding that to all the other errands I need to run tomorrow (that I've put off while I've been sick) and I might get back home before dinner. That's no way to recuperate, is it? When am I ever going to be able to put my Christmas decorations away?

I'd just concentrate on getting better first, the Christmas decorations can wait. The 12th day of Christmas isn't until Friday (I think) and even if it isn't, it's not the end of the world is it?

Rest up and get better!

I'm sorry you are still sick. My cable box got stuck like that and when I called about it they said to unplug it for a minute and plug it back in. And it worked! It started working properly again.

Lynn, it is great to have knowledgeable friends!! I unplugged it and now it works fine. THANKS!!

I just saw your comment on my blog - I am so glad that worked! I asked the cable people on the phone why unplugging it for a minute would make it work again and the guy said, "I don't know, electonics."

Oh Judy...DO take care...You don't want this to get more serious, my dear...The Christmas decorations can wait---your health cannot...! Please do take it easy and stay in that bed!

Sad news about Sweetie, I'm sorry to say.

Poor you! Just leave decorations and take a good long rest!

Or try to, not always easy, I know!

Winter, or snowy icy winter, seems to have passed us by so far. Very windy, but still a few degrees above freezing.

Just found my conversion table tp us its 5 degrees C but to you it would be 41 degrees F!

I hope you feel better soon Judy. It sounds like the bug I had just before Christmas and it is a nasty one. Plenty of hot drinks and rest saw me through it.

My decorations will go away on the twelfth day of Christmas which is on Thursday. If you're not superstitious it doesn't matter if they are a day or two late though )

Aww, I am sorry it is still hanging on. It took me 3 weeks to reach normal. Hope you do much better. Just rest Judy. Most things will wait.
So glad Lynn solved your cable problem. That should brighten your confinement a lot.

We've got the bug here in WA state too. Came home from the beach with it and have been sniveling, and hacking ever since. I think you should give yourself a rest a bit, my Christmas is boxed up but won't make it to basement for a bit. Be well!

Do please take it easy, take plenty of fluids and rest. Decorations, dust and any household chores can wait!

If you are superstitious - and why take chances - just dismantle the decorations and put then away when you feel better. Concentrate on getting better - you know it makes sense:)

Hope you feel better real soon Judy, Happy New Year.

Here's hoping each day finds you more and more better. Those decorations can wait for your health to return!

Look at it this way, you were late putting up your decorations, so you are owed this extra time to enjoy them. Forget about taking them down for now and concentrate on taking care of yourself We have brushed shoulders with a lot of sickies and so far (knock on wood) we have avoided this plague but it definitely is making rounds.

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

I have that same sickness, Judy. Chest congestion, coughing and no energy.

I came down here to Florida to sit in the warm Sun and bake it out of me and when we got here it was 40 degrees and going lower tonight.

Add to that the fact that our heater/AC went flooey on us and we had to get a new one.But before we got the new one we were freezing in here for 2 days and my illness got worse.

Then we got heat and I felt better.
Now it's your turn to feel like your old self again. I'm thinking of you...
