And on and on it goes.....

Still coughing, hacking, wheezing and blowing my nose. I didn't know a body could produce this much goop in only 8 days. My energy level is low, too, and I can only move around about 2 hours before I have to stop and rest. Too bad this illness hasn't taken my appetite.

Grocery shopping was very tiring today, and yet I still managed to spend about twice the amount of money and time than I expected it would be. I'm talented that way.

Mr. kenju gave me money for Christmas, but although I went shopping once, I couldn't find anything I really wanted. This morning, he asked if I had found anything yet. I said no and went on to explain that I hadn't felt like going shopping for clothing since I got sick; requiring me to walk around stores for hours and try things on. He scoffed, saying it should only take me 15 minutes to find something and buy it. Oh, how naive can men be???

The first problem is that I have Dom Perignon taste on a Kool-aid budget. I looked at TJMaxx purses and the only ones I liked were well over $200 and some were more. Does anyone outside of Hollywood ever pay that much for a purse? I surely wouldn't. Then I went to a major department store and looked at clothing. The first sweater I looked at was $278 - ON SALE!! I nearly passed out. I guess I'll have to face the fact that I'm cheap, and I probably would be cheap even if I won the lottery (which I seldom play.)

Looking over the many Christmas cards we received in December, I almost got a guilty feeling, since I didn't send any. If you were one of the people we got cards from, please know we really appreciate them. But neither of us has the time or the excess energy to send them anymore.

I'm making Navy bean soup in the crock-pot now; seasoned with the last of the ham we had last week, onions, celery and pepper. It smells so good I'm not sure I can wait until the beans get tender enough to eat. If I can keep up my energy level for another hour or so, I'll make cornbread to go with it. I wish you could join us for dinner.

I need new clothes, but I have a hard time finding what I like...and then there's the money.

Soup sounds good!

I hate shopping for clothes.
I refuse to buy a purse that costs more than the money I'd be able to put in the purse.
Your soup sounds yummy!
Hope you feel better very soon.

I'll go shopping with you. If you let me bring a flask. :)

And no, 200 beans for a purse = never. I'm cheap and proud.

Feed a cold, feed a fever. Something like that. I'm sorry you are feeling drecky, my friend. It's the pits. Purse- I made one I"m very proud of today. I'll post photos tomorrow morning. And I hate trying on clothes at stores no matter how well I am feeling.

Your soup sounds delicious! I'm defrosting ham/chili I made last month, food while the plague is still with me. I love purses, and the prices do keep rising. Finding clothes is exhausting, I'm not heavy but everything has slid south :-) but not on the garments. I did find a nice coach bag on eBay last year for $100. Good luck and good health.

Sorry you are sick Judy. I had that junk and it took over 2 weeks to get over it. You have my sympathy!

That soup sounds Sooooo delecious! I wish I could join you for dinner, too---except, I couldn't be around your illness....I dearly hope you will get "WELL" very soon, dear Judy....This sounds like a really mean illness.

Oh, and by the way...I am one person in Hollywood who won't pay $200 for a purse...! I don't understand the prices of things like Purses and Shoes....! It all sounds crazy-out-of-proportion, to me....!

My mouth is watering since soup beans, ham and cornbread was a favorite of my husband and I. I fixed it once after he died but had so much left over I thought I'd never finish it all. Guess I have to learn to make a smaller amount.

Hope you're feeling better by now. I wouldn't be able to shop unless I was absolutely desperate if I felt really ill as you describe -- just not worth it to me.

I went out to shop a couple of times after the holidays and found little. I couldn't believe the original prices they listed on some items -- ludicrous. The classic styles, quality sewing just isn't present. Everybody coming down the pike has put their name on a label -- most of which aren't worthy of the extra $$$ they want to charge. Name labels just don't symbolize what they once did, I don't think. I have no favored ones any more.

I too HATE shopping for clothes! I tend to buy online, staying with outlets I know, where I know the value for money is good, and their sizing fits me!

Hope you feel better soon, "Only a cold" doesn't describe the sore noses, constant streaming and sheer misery that colds can bring!

What are navy beans??

Soup is the best food for a miserable cold.

Oh, yummy! That sounds wonderful. It should give you some much needed protein for that flu. I am so sorry you are sick. We caught it also and it took me 2 wks to get rid of it and even then sometimes I feel like its trying to make a comeback. And like you, I couldn't believe my body could produce so much mucus.

Rest as much as you can!

I can't believe the prices of things, like you, my budget and tastes don't go together :)

I had to laugh about Mr. Kenju. He sounds just like my foster father. My foster father was the one who took me shopping and he told me I had to know what I wanted before we got there, get it and get out of the store. To this day, I have a problem shopping with my hubby. I am so thankful for the internet :) I do most of my shopping that way.

I hope you get to feeling better, my heart goes out to you.

Wow...$278 for an on sale sweater? Where do you shop? I can't remember the last time I bought new clothes ... I can't even outwear the ones I have so it seems silly to get new, not to mention not having the $$$'s to do it!
Get well soon ...

Dinner sounds good. I hope you get well soon and like you (with those kind of prices) I'm cheap (and proud of it)!

I am so sorry you are still puny. Hurry up and get well lady.
I know what you mean about the devide between taste and budget. I usually zero in on something horribly expensive, pass on it after seeing the tag, then the rest of the day, nothing measures up.

It's a god sign if you are tempted by the food you are cooking so I hope you are on the mend. You really shouldn't be squandering energy on shopping till you are fit. But you know that don't you?

Judy--Awwww...bean soup freezes very well. I can't make a small batch, but I have quart jars into which it gets divided. I stick the "excess" in the freezer (if I've left expansion space in the jars) or in the downstairs frig (if not). The jars usually seal - even if that wasn't really what I was going for - and keep for a long time in the frig or freezer.

I don't know much about the price of purses as I stopped carrying one in 1974. My cell phone carrier has a wrist strap and enough room for a DL, credit card, and $50 bill (Does that qualify it as a purse?) and it cost $20.

A few of the folks whom I see around here are also puny - but - I keep a wide berth in hopes of avoiding becoming a recipient. Sounds like you are on the mend, which is a good thing!
