You Can't Burn the Candle at Both Ends.......

without getting sick. After all the work and parties and eating too much, I am paying the price. We went out to eat 5 times in the last 3 days, breakfast included. I have eaten like there's no tomorrow. Something has to stop!! Even my BIL, who usually will eat until you drag him away from the table, is remarking about the amounts of food consumed. I've made turkey soup, pinto beans and cornbread and ham - so on the nights we haven't eaten out, we've done quite well at home.

After dinner last night at The Angus Barn, we came home and my throat started closing up and feeling raw. I hate that feeling (does anyone not hate it?) and I took meds, including a sinus/allergy pill. Once I went to sleep, I stayed in bed for 8 hours - not a usual thing for me. Once I finally dragged myself out of the covers, I crept downstairs to get more meds and coffee, hoping that would make me perk up. No such luck. I have spent the day in my pj's and robe, throat wrapped in a scarf, drinking first hot and then cold drinks in my quest for throat relief. Bean soup helped a little....lol

The Bean Soup sounds delicious.. Having the sore throat not so wonderful. Heal fast. There are places to undecorate...in the meantime enjoy the respite as best you can.

So sorry you're sick. That is no fun, for sure. Hope it passes quickly.

Yes indeed...I hate that feeling, too. I hope and pray you get to feeling 100% very very soon, dear Judy...

Get someone to get you some takeout Hot & Sour soup from a Chinese restaurant. It's got a chicken stock base and the spicy heat always makes me feel better. I hope you feel better - sounds like life caught up with you.

I find that large groups of people often share more than food. Unfortunately,

I'm also suffering from a cold after a hectic week, though it seems to be a mild one.

Lots of Scrabble seems to have carried me through to tonight's Husky Football game.

Healing hugs from across the pond. I do hope you recover in double quick time.

Loren is so right! Same thing happened to me after going out two nights in a row--started w/sore throat. OTC Mucinex is helping me. You might try, it is an expectorant. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Your tummy needs a rest. Fluids plus plus and chicken soup would be good.
Take it easy - let everybody else look after themselves - it's Judy time.

I feel your pain - there is something bad going around. I hope you feel better soon!

I have always said that if someone won't stop and rest, God will knock them down. Three of the most industrious people I know (my daughter, my sister and you) have all gotten sick and I'm sure it's the only way God could get you guys to rest.

I would stay in my pjs and robe all day but the neighbors would complain when I took the dogs out. Well, they may not complain but they would be pretty disgusted.

By the way, some fresh air feels good if you are running a fever. Not so good on a sore throat. Especially if you have that stupid cold rain thing going on in your area.

Wrap up in a throw blanket and eat away. Feed a cold. Feed a fever. Feed a sore throat. That's my motto.

Stay in your Jammie's all weekend! I love bean soup. My Mom made the best, and I have never been able to duplicate it. Happy New Year Judy, and extended friends who also comment here. I have the grandkids all weekend, so will have limited time to visit.

Awww Judy, I am so sorry. I just got over that crud and it is a bear.
Alkaseltzer Cold Plus was the only thing that touched mine. Hope it is brief and mild.
Rest that body,it is trying to tell you something.

Sounds like you're paying the price for overindulgence. I simply can't do it anymore and in a way it's a good thing... it forces me to eat right and to get enough sleep ... dull but necessary.
Hope you're back to your perky self soon. HAPPY NEW YEAR, Judy.

Oh, baby, sorry to hear this. So far, knock wood, I'm just waking up feeling fat. Hot sour soup and lots of pj time with a cozy blanket and a good book sound like the right fix. Read "A Good Hard Look" - you'll love it. Feel better.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I've heard that staying in bed and resting is really the best you can do for a virus/cold. Soup is good too. Take care and I hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks, everyone. I had to work this morning, but I'm home now and resting in my chair - where I hope to be until at least 5pm! I don't work again until 1-2-12, so I should be well rested by then.
