Did You Know?

Americans eat three pounds of peanut butter per person every year, enough to coat the floor of the Grand Canyon! (I wonder how they know it is enough to coat the canyon floor?)

Astronauts cannot burp in space because gravity is too low; liquids do not separate from gasses in the stomach, so belching is impossible. (A good reason to live in space!)

'Bookkeeper' is the only word in the English language with three consecutive double letters.

Your screams cannot be heard in space because there is no air to carry the vibration of your voice.  (There's another good reason that I suspect mr. kenju would like us to live in space.)

When glass breaks, the cracks move at speeds of up to 3,000 miles per hour.

The focusing muscles of the eye move about 100,000 times a day. To give the leg muscles the same exercise would involve walking 50 miles each day!

No burping or screaming in space? That sounds like no fun at all. What about farts?

Sorry I had to ask!

I think I eat more peanut butter than anyone else. Got some extra jars this month because the prices are going up.

LL Cool Joe beat me to it !! The first thing I thought of when I read about the "no burping" for the astronauts was "what about the end???"

Dang, do they just explode if they can't burp? Maybe since the gas and liquids don't separate, they just have loud pee.
I am doing my share in coating the floor of the Grand Canyon.

Great! And did you know there are three words in the English language with two u's in consecuivce order -- vacuum, residuum and continuum?

I'm with Old Lady Of The Hills. Someone is eating my share of peanut butter. I to like Nutella though.

I have trouble with the first one. Just supposing you were given 3lbs of peanut butter and told to cover the floor of the GC. I bet a pound to a penny mine would be empty before I'd moved.
