Shopping Bears No Fruit

A shopping trip this morning left me empty-handed (and still in possession of my money), after 3 hours of looking and trying on and comparing and looking some more. I couldn't find anything to buy; nothing I wanted fit well and the stuff that did fit didn't look so good on me. It's frustrating, you know. My birthday is coming up soon, and I was hoping to find something nice (and not too expensive) to buy myself. I saw a few purses I liked, but I'm not willing to pay $200 + (especially at a discount store) for a purse - no matter how soft the leather is or who made it!

If I'd get serious about losing 10-15 pounds, I could fit into most everything I really liked today. I've always loved sweaters, and nowadays, they need to be large enough to de-emphasize my lumps and bumps, otherwise I look a bit like the Michelin Tire Man (on the left.)  My mom used to buy clothes that were one size too small in the mistaken hope that it would prod her to lose weight. It seldom worked, and the too-small clothing languished in her closets for months (and years) before she finally gave up in frustration  (and donated the clothes.) The few times that she actually did lose weight; she'd pull out a dress she'd owned for months and when my dad asked..."Is that a new dress?", she'd reply...."Why, this old thing? I've had it for a while." Of course she did that with dresses she'd bought only a month ago too.....lol

I hate shopping for clothes. Which is why what I wear is old and worn out...

I feel your pain, is what I'm saying.

Its a sad fact that if you wear clothes a tad too small for you it makes you look fatter than going up a size.
Hope I fare better in Taunton but these days unless it is something I desperately need I tend to give up and decide I don't need it.

So you were shopping and you ran into a pack of bears that were shopping too and they had no fruit with them...is that the story?

I find that I get the best value on the days I only go out to browse. If I have my mind set on a particular item I never find it.

Don't you hate going shopping and coming home with nothing? After all...you're on a mission to spend money. When I'm on such a mission I usually wind up with something...but I'm a little more picky about what I buy these days. I have loads of clothes, but I don't wear a lot of them...and I need to lose a lot more than you do Judy.

Me too, or three, or four. Hate clothes shopping. I think I have some hope that new clothes will make me look vaguely like I did ten years ago, ha, ha. Never happens, but something that fits is an improvement.

I hate clothes shopping too.

I've had a gift certificate for some time now and I can't SPEND it!!!! Nothing fits!!!

When they made clothes in the USA there was a good chance the clothes would fit.

Now with most clothes coming from overseas they are made for little thin people and that's not me.
