Running in High Circles

Mr. kenju went to the Washington, DC area this week with our younger daughter; she for business and he for pleasure. He scheduled some meals with old college friends, and last night he had dinner at a famous restaurant that has been in existence since 1960. His dining companions were our daughter, and a couple he's known for many years. The man was formerly the commissioner of a well known American national sports league.

While there, they met a man that said commissioner had lunched with that same day; the Japanese Ambassador and his wife. Too bad I didn't go along, right?  I think it would have been very nice to meet them, and something I could tell my grandchildren (though I doubt they'd be impressed....lol)

I was scheduled to work this weekend, or so I thought, but it turned out that the dates were wrong. Another florist for whom I have been working sent an email at 1pm, asking if I could come in a work for them - and since I was "widowed" for the weekend, I said yes. I got there at 2:30pm and we didn't finish until 9:45! It's a good thing I was available; otherwise they might have had to work past midnight. It wouldn't be the first time I've done that, but not since I turned 60 or so (it's been a long time.) After we ended work, we tucked into Chinese delivery:  wonton soup and egg rolls, etc. It sure tasted good!! I went to bed early (for me) and slept until 9:45 this morning!!

Mr. K. Is rubbing some fancy elbows there. Sorry you missed it, but seems like you kept busy.

Goodness, that did sound like and interesting bunch to hob nob with. And you got to work your butt off at home. Hummm.
Chinese is a good reward however.

What a nice trip for Mr. Kenju....and I'm sorry you didn't get to make the trip. Sounds like that lunch was very interesting. The people who employ you are VERY lucky to have you.
