Carmi made me do it! Posted by Picasa

Edit: I was standing in my living room, waiting for a friend/co-worker to pick me up for the day's work, when the leaves caught my eye. The sun was shining through them, and they appeared to be on fire. I thought to myself that this is something that Carmi would latch onto immediately! So I got the camera and went outside to shoot upwards into the tree. Thanks for all the nice comments on the pic.

Powerful composition and writing. This image speaks to the defiance of life that happens all around us - our only challenge is to take the time to capture it, which you always do.

You are much too kind, Judy!

Just about the time I get back into the house after raking the leaves yet one more time. :)

Good for Carmi- nice post with picture! And I love the previous photos of the mansion ball- oh, my! I would like a picture of you, all spiffed up, please- because I'm certain you clean up as beautifully as one of those trees.

Hope your week was good!

It's amazing how some hold on for so much longer....and others....they just drift away.
Oh? We were talking about leaves here. Sorry, I got sidetracked and was thinking about people in general....lol
(Great shot)

Those are very pretty leaves, Judy. Given all the rain and wind we've had lately I'm surprised there's any leaves still up. And now it's damn cold as well!

Michele sent me over to your side of the Triangle.

Gorgeous. In the larger size, there are rain drops, or some drops at least.

Love it!!!! Carmi would be proud.

We're good up here in NY, because we haven't had any snow yet and it's 55 degrees out today!

I think every day is becoming WWCP (What Would Carmi Photograph) day. Somewhere on this computer I have a quote about the last two maple leaves hanging from the tree. These appear to be oak... I don't know about your oaks but in Mississippi I had an oak tree that retained, hung on to, stuck with these dry, brown leaves all winter.... only the spring sprouting of new life managed to knock them off. It was bizarre to have to rake leaves in the spring for this tree and in the fall for all the others.

It's a great shot. They seem to be the only leaves on otherwise bare trees. It's great when inspired by others :) I hope you've had a good weekend. Take care :)
