Maxine the Magnificent

This is the last of my already prepared posts, so after this one, I may have to resort to posting from the archives until my brain registers something new to talk about, which could be a long while! But we all enjoy Maxine, don't we? I love the one directly below and the one about "rise and shine". What's your favorite?

P.S. At church today, they took up a special collection for an orphanage in South Africa. Our average number of people each Sunday (in 2 services) is 450-500, and the collection amount averages $11-12 thousand. Last year, our special collection gleaned $35k and today? Today we gave $89 thousand dollars! I am so proud; the church is only 2 yrs, 10 months old and we have weathered our share of problems!

I love Maxine. When I was in Kansas city this spring, I visited the Hallmark center, and I said to a lady, "I would love to see the committee who sits around thinking of things for Maxine to say." She replied,"Maxine is the work of one man who used his mother as his model. She even would go with him to meetings to be introduced."

But I lOVE the last paragraph of your post about your church. What wonderful giving that is!

I like the Rise and Shine one myself.
What a heart for others your church has! I'm sure this can be put to great use.

LOOL...I love Maxine. I think I'm going to be her when I'm old.

BIG thumbs up to your church! That's *amazing*!

Here via Michele's, even though I peek in everyday anyway.

I've never seen those cartoons before, how funny!

And wow for your church! Firstly that you get so many people attend, we rarely get more than 50 (not that I can say much I'm an occasional attendee!) and to raise that sort of money is amazing! Well done!

One of the hazards of being so before behind in reading the posts of those on one's blogroll, is that you sometimes have to read some boring stuff.

On the other hand, there is pleasure in reading good stuff. I just read six great posts of yours.

Hoping you and yours have a wonderful holiday season.

I think Maxine needs an intervention.

Wow, that is awesome. You should all be really proud.
Maxine rocks. But I bet she doesn't give anything to charity.
