Terri's Book Meme

Terri, of http://www.islandwriter.net/ tapped me for this meme about books. This kind of thing is hard for me, because I have read many books over the years and it is difficult to narrow it down to one choice for each category. But I gave it some thought - and here it is:

One book that changed my life . . .Anthony Adverse by Hervey Allen

One book that I've read more than once . . .The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann

One book I'd want on a deserted island . . .The Encyclopedia Britannica (any volume) and/or The Bible.

One book that made me laugh . . . anything by Fannie Flagg.

One book that made me cry . . . Marley and Me by John Grogan (Terri and I share that one.)

One book I wish I'd written . . .I wish I had written any book - but I'll say Cane River by Lalita Tademy.

One book I wish had never been written . . .all books have some value to someone!

One book I'm currently reading . . . The Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan (the print is so small I am having a hard time with it. I always finish a book if I start it - but this one may get tossed aside).

One book I've been meaning to read . . .the latest James Patterson book.... Judge & Jury.

So there you are. I must admit that if you ask me again in 3 months to do this meme, you might get very different answers for most of them........LOL

I'm going to have to investigate some of these titles. I am a voracious reader. My friends tell me they don't have time for reading since they have had kids...well, I have two and I have NEVER lacked for time reading...I will stay up late and read...I'll sacrifice my sleep to read a book. There is NO excuse to NOT read!

Such an interesting list Judy..I am unfamiliar with quite a few of these books. Terri tagged me, too..but I haven't done it yet...!

Good job on completing the meme. Myself, I don't think I could do it.

"All books have value to someone.." Great answer!

I'm putting Cane River on my list!!
I just googled it and you're right. It does sound like I would love it.

Oh yes, my list is already changing and would be different in a few months. I was surprised that both you and Terri found all the sadness in Marley and Me and I listing it as one that made me laugh, found all the humor. Hmmmm
since we are more often than not, on the same page in our thinking, I wonder why I spaced the sadnes in that book.

I love your answer about all books having meaning to someone. It's so true!

Hey Judy...finally I'm getting a chance to play "catch-up" reading my blogs. Thank you for doing this meme.....I really enjoyed reading it and must also say, there's a few here you listed that I'm not familiar with.
Anthony Adverse is one that I'll need to check out.
I'm familiar with Cane River but never read it...so looks like I'll be adding that to my list as well.
I have to agree...In a few months time, some of mine on a list would be different also. Might be interesting for one of us to do this meme again in 3-4 months and see if we differ in our answers very much. Thanks again for doing it!
