Mr. kenju is a pipe smoker, and a devotee of Sherlock Holmes. He has collected pipe paraphernalia and related stuff for years.
These are for Jennifer at Open Book, who has declared herself to be a lover of all things Sherlock, as well.
The statue on the top was made by Tom Clark, an artist working with Cairn Studio in Davidson, NC. Tom has made hundreds of statuettes, mainly of gnomes and sprites, with the occasional literary figure or famous person. I am posting this from Picasa, so I can't get the link in here for you, but if you are interested, Google Tom Clark and see all his wonderful works. This is another of my collections, and someday I will show you those.
Below is a humidor - used for storing pipe tobacco - the head of Sherlock Holmes. I gave it to mr. kenju for Christmas many years ago. His hat comes off, revealing the storage area inside.

A Sherlock Stash Head!
I must admit I like the cookie monster best!!!
I love the stuffed animals and creatures from the 70s! I am going through an intense phase of re-visiting all things from my childhood - probably because of the emotional letting-go process involved in leaving my family in Finland behind (even though I've been away from them for 16 years!) and going yet further away.... So, I am doing silly things like crying while looking at childhood pictures, seeing my old toys, finding my clothes from when I was 2 years old, and discovering a piece of the old wall papaer stuck in my journal from my room when I was 10.... This too shall pass....
By the way, my hubby has some Finland pictures posted at thisisbrucesblog.blogspot.com.... I thought you might enjoy them! =)
I think I had that same Raggedy Ann doll! And I loved Grover. He was my favorite SS character.
I have a few little plush rememberances as well... five Hasbro plush Fraggles, from 198(4).
And I have a friend whose cats were named Sherlock and Watson and Basil. :)

I always wanted the Tom Clark Sherlock, but it was one piece I never managed to get my hands on. He's quite the handsome devil, isn't he?
I do have the WVU Mountaineer, though, along with dozens of other gnomes. Did we know we had this in common before now??
I love Curious George! I never had the doll, though. I'd say it's high time to rectify that situation, eh?
I love the pictures of the toys. My daughter was so taken with Bert and Ernie...and of course, Cookie Monster and Grover.
I found the Count quite amusing myself.
Curious George was such a favorite of my first graders. I think they could identify with him so well.
I love all the childhood things Judy....It is wonderful to have these things from your childrens childhood and yours, too, like that little chair. Precious!
The Sherlock things are delightful, too! Did you ever visit the Sherlock Ho;mes place in London? I didn't, but knew it was there.
My goodness Judy. You could make a million dollars at E-bay!
As always, interesting stuff and a pleasure to read.
Love these photos! I wanted to post something next to Curious George, but I can't find the Post a Comment link? Hmmm...
Anyway, my new post is Curious George-related!
Just stopping by to say hi to some blogfriends tonight. Hope all is well with you, Judy!
