Yes, those are surely true~ You should come to Florida...we all have a/c down here...it rained this afternoon and the temperature dropped to about 82. Cool.
We have had the same nasty heat and humidity here in South Jersey!!! I can totally relate. Especially the seat belt buckle is a branding iron and you know how to drive a car using only 2 fingers.
It has been miserable here! Leaving work today I heard thunder--the most glorious sound I have heard in a long time!

Feels humid too, which we almost never get. This has been a year of very weird weather...
I do believe you could fry and egg on the pavement today. And Oklahoma? Temps in the 100's, reminds me of the day there when the temp was 107 in the shade and the electricity went off. I left the house to find a place for Nyssa to be cool. When I came back the power was back on, but the air conditioning compresser had blown up. When it bakes, it bakes!

It's been pretty hot up here too Kenju--it was in the upper 90s this weekend in northern Michigan!
Thank goodness for these little outbursts of rain. Without them, I think I'd consider moving to Iceland.

We were reminded this week that at least part of New Jersey is technically below the Mason Dixon Line.
Believe it or not but we are presently suffering a heat wave and we are all drifting around like drippy heroines in a Tennessee Williams play.
We have been really lucky so far this year - it's almost the end of July and we've only had a couple of really hot days. (During which a few people died from heat stroke, but still, only two or three hot days is something.)
The downside is that this extended break from the rigours of summer is caused by an extended rainy season, so the humidity is ridiculously high and and it seems to be raining most of the time. We had our first clear day in weeks yesterday. Half day, really - it clouded over in the afternoon. Now we have another week of rain ahead...
But I still prefer this to the summer heat.
