Popped by from Michele's this evening, are you a collector of old music scores?

1929, the year after my parents were born. Mom loves this song. I don't think I've ever heard the one below. My mom has a lot of really old music. She took piano for years starting as a child. Nyssa used some of the Hanon scales and finger exercise music when she took piano as well.

You have the BEST STUFF!!!!! I love these!

As someone who works in graphic design, seeing things that were created with what was called "hot type" is just wonderful.

The lay person has no idea how design has suffered thanks to computerized typography. There is absolutely no comparison, but unfortunately...it's cheap.

Just catching up here... hope you're feeling better!
Michele sent me your way today!

Are you sick again? I noticed something Naomi just said up there. Or maybe it's still the same flu.

You surely are quite the collector!

Be well!

That 1936 piece was printed when my mom was one year old. That sure puts it into perspective!

Glad you dropped by and got to see a pic of my Sweet Girl. I bet you liked the sepia toned one; it has that antique feel. If it weren't for the winnie-the-pooh on the front of her jumper, maybe you could pass it off as one of your collection... tee hee!

That is one of my favorite songs to sing to my babies.

My mom had tons of old sheet music. Lots of it was already wearing thin by the time I could really appreciate it. The only piece I was able to get my hands on was White Christmas by Irving Berlin.
Mom used to work for a piano instructor who gave her a lot of his old pieces that were already a bit worn.

I'm enjoying looking over all your posts here about the sheet music, and yes, I'm kind of working backward again trying to catch up! :)

My husband's father (born in 1910) has sung "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" for as long as I've known him. I was left my husband's mother's powder/music box--given to her, of course, by Pop. It plays that tune!

All of this helped mem one timem when I had to come up with a way of soothing an Alzheimer's patient at the local nursing home. I decided to sing (softly) to the man, and this is the only song that I could come up with (well, I could probably have sung "Strawberry Roan". Boy, was his wife surprised when she came back into the room!
