Ephemera ~ Paper Fans

Dipping water from the cool, clear creek, the young Indian maiden may also see her reflection in the water. What a wonderful location for her; surrounded by pines and birches on the rocky shore. As a child, I spent a lot of time in the summer by the shores of just such a creek; looking for crawdads, turtles and frogs. This fan brought back memories of those times and some of my favorite places - and I had to buy it.

Michele sent me, Judy.

I really never see paper fans about, Judy. Do you find these in stores, flea markets, or on places like Ebay? You must have quite a collection from the selections you've showcased here on your blog.

Wow, I love old fans....what great ones you've found. I remember as a child using a paper fan with the funeral home name on the back (long before air conditioning!) Michele sent me.

Most of the old paper fans I remember had the name of a lumberyard or a funeral parlor on the backs!

I'm in need of flowers now so I wish you were closer. I saw your wedding flowers from earlier in the week- SO beautiful. But I have actually been feeling you close all week, Judy. Thank you for that. So very much- thank you.
And for your very kind most recent comment.

Judy,
A friend of mine who does home improvements and innovations just came in possession of a big case of hand fans advertising Williams Bus Lines, Marietta, Ga. They have been out of business since the 1950s. He said the fans look brand new.

Nice fan--It would be perfect pic to have a Longfellow poem on the back.

I love the square (ok slightly rectangular) look of these fans. I am continually amazed at your collection.
